Hello,
Purchased a 2007 260 sundeck I'm looking for a good sturdy & perhaps trailerable boat cover?
We frequently run the boat at Lake Havasu AZ. The Temps. are North of 100 in the Summers. Any suggestions ? Thank you & have a good one

Hello Joseph,
I have been going to Havasu for over 30 years. I have found the “out of the box” covers don’t fit well enough for trailering. You have to have a good shop make a custom one, especially if you have a tower or any other modifications. With that said, even a good cover will fail over time. Exposure to the sun and the stress of the 70+ mph winds being towed on Rice Road will take its toll. I store my ski boat indoors, with a good Sunbrella cover. The cover goes in a nice bag when we are on the road, and comes back out to cover the boat once we get to the river.:D

Overton's and WestMarine both offer custom covers. You may have to call them, as not all older models are listed on the web page. I got mine a 8 plus years ago from overton's, the sunbrella version. no problems yet.

Hi Joe,

We may be able to help you. We sell covers that are made to fit your exact boat. They are available in a choice of material based on your needs and also your budget.

I would need a little more info about your model so if you send me your info on our request form I will try to help (https://www.covemarine.com). We are a CSR site sponsor and have helped many CSR members.

Thanks
-Kevin

Hello Jim, Thank you for your great ideas & suggestions for "out of the box" covers.
Heck yea you know good old rice road, it's the best short cut to Lake Havasu from the O.C. I do not have a tower just basic 26' Sea Ray with a dual bimmines.
I will look in to a Sunbrella cover & then the cover off when traveling on Freeways & Rice Rd.
Do you have any idea how long will the Sunbrella boat cover will last under normal conditions stored outside in the sun each day?
Jim, thank you so much again for your help & hope you had a good day Joe

My Overtons custom Sunbrella cover is 10 years old. it is on the boat year round, in the slip over the summer, stored in the back yard in the winter. I don't travel with it, but you are supposed to be able to. I only pull the boat out of the water to winterize, so I don't need a cover for the trip to the mechanic.

Good Morning Randmhall, Thank you so much for your Info. with the boat cover. I will research a bit more but it sounds like Sunbrella is a winner. Please have a good day Joe

Joe,
I never stored my boat outside in the direct sun for any extended periods. Currently my ski boat is stored in a 50' x 100' steel building. Before that I had one of those steel framed commercial canopies that I parked the boat under with the Sunbrella cover. I think I have had the current cover for well over 10 years, but again, it rarely is exposed to sunlight directly.
If you have the space, I would suggest a canopy for your long term storage. I would have to replace the tarp every 5 years or so, but it really protected the boat. This is similar to what I used:
