Boat light comments invited

It's true that BWI has only been a "recent" law specifically used as such. But before that if you were caught drunk driving a boat they got you anyway. Public intoxication or such.

Regardless, anyone admitting to driving drunk, no matter what vehicle, immediately loses all credibility.

And for those reasons, I'm out too.

Maybe it's just the way I read this, but I don't think not having those laws made the boating any safer.

I was so disappointed when they tried to take the booze out of boating. Heck, we used to have funnels to help guzzle the beer.

Having a friend's wife taken out by an intoxicated boater and knowing someone that killed several in a family by running over their boat drunk at night in his 630SSS, I find this comment immature showing a lack of basic intellect and responsibility - needs to grow up. Laws are in place because of and to deter these types of people....
Back in the 90's we all drank and boated but seeing the potential effects, having some close calls and losing people close - things changed.

I highly doubt it, considering other posts. Some folks shouldn't be allowed near anything self powered or any rotating machinery. Perhaps one of "Darwin Laws" will come into play.

What is it with lawyers on here? Having seen the aftermath of a lawyer from my marina getting hammered on a Sunday afternoon in a cove and running over a bass boat killing a father and son, I don't appreciate that post. That SOB was so drunk he didn't realize he ran over the boat until someone told him when he docked at our marina. He was drinking in a cove around a point from our marina and the fishermen were fishing the point. His drinking spot was a cove less than a mile from the marina. Shit can go bad fast when excessive alcohol is involved. There were 10 people on the dock that saw the impact and jumped in their boats to try to rescue the fishermen. That drunk mf'er left 2 women without husbands and 4 kids without a dad.

I would agree with your first statement in that he's a troll. As for the second, it made me think of the saying "When you make something foolproof, they'll just invent a better fool."

He may be f'n with us. But I have seen this level of stupid in person. How else do you explain people putting their 5 and 6 year old kids on a tube and running back and forth across the main channel cutting off cruisers and boats on plane without anyone in the boat watching them because they are too busy with their beer?
