Boat size?

Any lake operated by Georgia Power has a maximum size of 30'6". I do not know if there is restriction on other lakes. We boat on Clarks Hill Lake and I know there is a 42' boat.

The Savannah River chain of lakes, Russell, Hartwell, and Clarks Hill are Corp of Engineer lakes as is Lanier and Allatoona. I do not think there is a limit as there are 70+ foot houseboats on Lanier. Oconee, Sinclair, Jackson, Burton, Yonah, and Blackshear are Georgia Power lakes and have a 30’6” restriction. Also toilets, sleeping quarters and galleys are prohibited Ga Pwr Lakes except for Lake Sinclair.

Thank you for your reply. I'm okay with the 30’6” restriction, but spending a day on the lake with no toilet, sleeping quarters or galley does not sound like fun.

Is there a lake you are interested in?

I am curious why those restrictions? I know in some lakes in Canada there is a zero discharge rule, but that generally means that boats are set up with both a blackwater and a graywater tank. My Campion (built in BC, Canada) came that way. It had a graywater tank, that was bypassed/removed because we are allowed to discharge graywater in the Great Lakes. Is it some form of "zero tolerance" enforcement for waste water, or that they want to discourage overnighting on those lakes?

Hartwell is a beautifull lake, I have a friend that had a houseboat there before he moved to Allatoona. Lake Oconee (above the dam from Sinclair) is more of a rec lake while Sinclair is more of a sportmans lake. Oconee is a little more high end as well. I have fished both for years since I am only 30 min away from several ramps on either lake. Son just bought a lake house on Oconee with a neighborhood ramp and twp slips. I have a "spare" 19' CC which we will probably start keeping down there for convenience, as opposed to dragging my 23' CC Proline Bay everytime.
But for my money, Hartwell is the most pristine and serene (or usta be!)

We keep our's on Clarks Hill. I can try to answer any questions you have.

Lanier has 3-marinas that have diesel and I would think Allatoona has some. I would think Clark Hill might as big as it is, but not sure. I highly doubt the others do. I believe Lanier is the only GA lake that has any travel lifts available. I think Park Marine may have a ramp on Allatoona long enough to launch a big boat, but again, no real knowledge.
