Calling all 360 DA owners

I believe you have to be a member for 24hrs before requiring a tow (i heard that but not sure i read it somewhere)
For the additional ~$150, i have both. In practice Seatow is actually at my marina and thank goodness i have never needed to avail either company of their services. I believe the best company is the one who gets to you first. Both offer coverage on LI.
Congatulations and Best of luck with the new vessel!
I am also a member of both for the same reasons @Shaps states above. If you are nervous about bringing the boat around you could always hire a captain to go with you. You would have a professional to keep you out of trouble and a full day island of training on the boat. There are a number of captains on the island that could help you with this. I would still up for Sea Tow or Tow Boat US prior to the trip.

Can recommend a captain if needed as well.

Tripsdad, Shaps, thank you both...

Agreed, I'm do both Seatow and BoatUS - they could both help me on the Sound as well. As for the captain, I'm already having those talks with my broker but may reach back out to you Shaps if that falls through.

I appreciate your help gentlemen.

I had posted earlier under Electrical Stuff regarding a coolant leak from the generator to the recovery tank….it is a plastic line that after 20 years had become brittle…it literally split in pieces as I removed it.
It’s a simple fix to replace……fyi.

Hello all, new member here. I'm sorry to open my introduction with a question but I'm looking for some insight from others in this group.

I'm about to do my survey/sea trial this weekend on a 2004 360 with 8.1 Horizon engines. Cosmetically the boat is in terrific shape and has only had a single owner. The boat has been in salt water since new and has had both engines replaced. One under warranty in 2008 (now ~550 hrs) and the other in 2018 (now ~ 200 hrs). I'm very anxious about jumping back into boating - been away for about 25 years :) but really looking forward to it.

I've engaged both a Surveyor as well as a Mercruiser Cert mechanic to do the inspection but I have a question to the group...

I've read so much over the past month, including this thread, that things are all jumbled up in my head. I've had the mechanic suggest to me that doing fluid testing (oil, coolant, tranny) on the engines & generator is a waste of money - that fluid testing is usually done on diesel engines only and that if there are any troubles they will be found on inspection.

Is that a fair opinion? Just looking to make the best of my review before the purchase...

I appreciate any thoughts from the group.

Joe
Im late to this conversation but I couldn't disagree more about the fluid test. I bought my 360 several years ago and it was in great shape, above and below deck. The surveyor found only minor issues as they always do but I decided to press on and send engine oil samples to the lab, I'm glad I did. The starboard engine had elevated levels of water in it that were beyond normal condensation (boat was in fresh water upstate so there was no sodium reading).

Turns out the manifolds, elbows and gaskets needed to be done, raw water was leaking into the engine. It wasn't a cheap job but the previous owner agreed to pay after test results. There really is no good reason not to do a $60 test in my opinion. Good luck!

Where on the South Shore is the boat? We are in Lindenhurst and there/'s a few CSR members in our marina and many on Long Island.

They are great boats and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. What was the last boat you had?

I got lucky when I bought mine as it was right in Massapequa. We took the boat around Manhattan last spring out Jones Inlet and back though Fire Island with about 7 hours running time. The boat handled really well and was very comfortable with 3 to 4 foot seas on the way back.

Best of luck with the survey.
People don't realize how much the weight difference makes between the popular 340 vs the 360, it's a world of difference when cruising even with just a bit of chop.

Unfortunately, we couldn't come to terms for the 360 following my survey this past weekend... I'm truly disappointed.

So, I guess, let the search continue although I'm likely looking at next season at this point.

Tripsdad, Shaps & Searageous, thanks for the advice and insight, it is appreciated.

Hello everyone, my name is John and I just bought a 2003 360 DA, sadly she had been sitting in a marina for the past eight years was prepped and winterized correctly and just sat in the water she only has 258 hours on the 8.1’s. Unfortunately I need a new galley fridge and freezer, does anyone know what replacements I should get? I’m stepping up from a 27 foot maximum SCR, that we loved and just put a new 6.2 and brand new Drive. But couldn’t turn down the offer we got to purchase this 360, major upgrade for us can’t wait to spend weekends on her. Thank you everyone for all your help.

Hi John,

Congratulations and welcome to CSR! We moved up from a 27' center console 3 years ago and have been very happy with the 360. While I have not replaced the fridge and freezer there are others on the board who should be able to help.
There's a bunch of us CSR members on Long Island. Where are you located?

Anyone know why the pics don’t come up? Just shows “img”

I actually found that piece of particle board in the boat yard. It has a black finish on the opposite side. Since the TV was larger than the opening, there was no need to put a veneer cover over the board. I measured the opening three times, and cut the board so that it would be a snug fit. Therefore, theres no need for a latch, because the door fits snug, not tight, into the opening. In addition, the hinges are at the top, so the weight of the TV works to keep it closed. Basically, the boat would have to nearly capsize for the TV to swing open. I did the TV in the stateroom the exact same way, with a black piece of starboard instead of the wood. Works great!
Any chance you have new pics of the tv upgrade, they are no longer there for some reason? Thanks for your time.

My T & P valve on my hot water heater (Seaward 6 gallon) is draining overboard. My current valve is a 75 PSI - 210 degrees. However the owners manual part number is 100 PSI. I called a local RV store and they only carry 150 PSI....and the 150 PSI valve seems to be more readily available. Is anyone else using 150 PSI valves?
Did anyone replay?

Hello,

TimeFlys was kind enough to send me a link to this group. I have copied below a little introduction for my wife and I. Very much looking forward to learning and reading about the boat we hope to complete purchase on.

I admit I have only skimmed the first page or 2 of this forum. I was not aware that the Sundancer 360 was not that popular of a boat from what I see in the first few posts here. In any event, we are hopeful our purchase goes through and that we are in the water May!

Thanks again for the link TimeFlys

Hello everyone,

My wife and I are new to this club and we are currently in the process of purchasing a new-to-us, 2002 SeaRay Sundancer, 360. The boat has 8.1 Horizons, V-Drives, 725hrs, Gennie with 265 hours, bow and stern thrusters with new canvas and a hydraulic lift on the stern. We have a survey scheduled for this coming Monday and a water test when the boat is put in the water in May. Currently, the boat is in heated storage and looks simply immaculate. We are new to a boat of this size (previously owned an 18FT bow rider) so definitely a big step up for us. I simply wanted to post a quick intro as I have already benefited from discussions here.
We just secured a slip (pending survey/water test conditions of sale) in Sarnia and will keep the boat on Lake Huron but travel on the rivers to Lake Erie. Thank you!

look8ng forward to some pics, I just picked up a 2003 360da with 258 hrs on it, heard not her but great things about the boat. Summers on the way!

IM,

This hose comes from the air filter box to the top of the engine, near where the oil filler cap is. Like a cars P.C.V. location.
I’m so sorry to post a reply, can anyone give me a quick way to start a new thread, I’m trying to get the galley refrigerator out and it’s a nightmare.

So I as able to have a port put in the original fridge and they replaced the thermostat, they had it for a few weeks and it was solid and stayed cool so glad I didn’t have to spring for a $2000 fridge. A little bit of a pain getting it out of the galley door but she squeezed thru!!! So exited, she will be in water in a few weeks..

Does anyone know how much weight my swim platform can hold? 2003 360da, was wondering if I could put a top dingy Davit on it to hold a 2008 caribe 11 with 30hp motor, Davit can hold 800lbs. But not sure if swim platform can take the weight? Thanks for your time. I still can’t figure out how to start a new thread, I’m sorry to add it to this one.

Hi Johnny,

“Calling All 360DA Owners” is a thread so you can’t start a thread within a thread. If you want to start a new thread you would go to the appropriate forum and and click on Post New Thread circled in the image below.
I can’t answer about the weight capacity of the swim platform but I’m sure someone here can. I would be concerned with putting too much weight on the back of the boat as our bows ride pretty high already.
