Anyone have any idea what the cost to replace the canvas on the boat would be. Price so far is $24,000 CDN = $17,000 US. No support work is required on SS frame.

Material is 40 gauge Strata Glass and Sumbrella Front helm window is sold glued into zipper frame.
I did my 380 DA 2 years ago for $8000

that was new zippers on the arch, 2 new biminis, they built the frame and canvas for a camper top, new polycarbonate for the 5 front pieces, and the 7 rear/side strataglass pieces…

Can you be a bit more specific as to exactly what pieces, etc?

I did mine this year with StrataGlass all round and extra side windows. Sunbrella fabric and navy zippers. £6000. Looks absolutely amazing

I am so glad I bought my Sailrite sewing machine eight years ago. It finally came time to replace the canvas again and this time I just couldn't find anyone who wanted the job. I would have to go through the Sailrite receipts but from memory it was:

$1,800 in Seamark Sunbrella fabric (vinyl backed)
$400 in O'Sea 40 Gauge Polished Clear vinyl
$300 in Sunbrella binding
$200 in supplies

So around $2,700 in supplies which could have been reduced by $600 if I had picked a non-vinyl backed Sunbrella fabric. In fairness it took me 32 hours to make the four large pieces that comprise the set up.

I am very happy with the outcome. At the end of it one of the canvas guys I called gave me a return call and quoted $9-10k for the effort using cheaper products.

Just thinking about spending $7-8k for 32 hours of labor gives me chills. $250 an hour is pretty good money for stitching things together.

I bought a Sailrite as well. After sewing up some runners, a helm cover and some other odds and ends I was left feeling like the $8500 I paid for new canvas was an absolute bargain!

Thank you all for the good information. Now new question. We have boat in Anacortes and are looking for a company to do the work. Will go as far south as Olympia and as far north as Campbell River in BC. Anyone have a recommendation of good, reasonable priced and reliable company to do the work? Looking at getting it done this winter.
