Carter’s Poopy Powder Recharge Day

I just want to reiterate...

No…. I fell for your info commercial last year. Oxy is very different than Carters poopy powder. It doesn’t dissolve the same and doesn’t work the same. I threw my container out last year
I know ingredients are close to same but something is different

Did not work for me either. Same issues as you post.

Never noticed before but Noflex has no amount specified of any unit of measure I can see. That seems odd there is no volume or weight on the bottle.

This is a tremendous savings. Thanks for posting. I swear by the stuff. When we got the boat the odor was annoying, specially during the winter layup. Have been using noflex religiously and zero odor. Have even started using this at home in the basement bathroom which is a pump.
Our basement has tile in the bathroom and behind the bar, the rest is just painted concrete with a huge area rug. From time to time we would get a little sewer smell so I started using CPP in our sump when I read this thread last year . Well a couple weeks ago I was at Grandaughter #2 track meet, and my wife called that there was some water in the basement, she couldnt tell where it was coming from, but she shut the water off to the basement til I got home. I asked her if it smelled, she said it smells like the cleaner I use when I glue pvc together. So I figured it was fresh water leaking from a water line. Nope when I got home one of the rubber boots on the check valve from the sump pump had slipped off, and the sump had kicked on (probably only once, not that much water) But it seriously smelled like pvc cleaner, and we never have sewer smell anymore. I put a small scoop in the shower drain before I take a shower, easy peasy, japaneesy. Thanks for this thread, I swear by the stuff

Great thread! I'm moving away from NoFlex and going with Sodium percarbonate but trying to understand what sodium carbonate contributes? I know sodium percarbonate mixed with water liberates hydrogen peroxide...... becoming oxygen and water. But sodium carbonate and water react and liberate sodium hydroxide (a base) and carbon dioxide. What do those contribute to black tank digestion? I'm no wastewater engineer! Thanks in advance for any input.

The two together are basically the ingredients of NoFlex. There is no digestion in that sense, only a chemical reaction. There no bacteria in the tank as a result of using NoFlex.

Actually the Noflex liberates oxygen which feeds the bacteria which is what breaks down the waste and eliminates the odor.

Yes, but it doesn't contain any bacteria and only promotes the process. I didn't word it correctly, but that was my point. I think it's a given that there will always be bacteria in the system unless you use something like bleach to kill it all.

I just made a up a new batch for this year. It cleaned my sending unit last year, so now I can see where my waste tank level is.

I just ordered enough to make 3 lbs of this. I have a couple of questions.

Once I start using this, approximately how long does it take before I should start seeing a reduction in the sludge stuck to the inner walls of the tank? Mine has never looked clean so, I'm thinking it'll be most of the summer before it really starts working.

Would there be any value in doing a "shock" treatment? My tank should be close to empty right now, so everything stuck to the sides of the tank is probably dry (relatively). I'm thinking of flushing water and treatment continuously until I get the waterline above the sludge line and then leaving it sit as long as I practically can before putting the head into service for the season.

I bought a Vacuflush quiet motor conversion kit with a new bellows, so I might be able to fill the tank directly with a hose while I have the vacuum generator off of it. Should I toss a 1/4 cup of the CPP int here? More? Is that just wasting it unnecessarily by adding more than I need?

There is no reason not to use poopy powder….. you make it yourself, it’s cheap as hell and you can use as much as you want where you want ….. and the stuff works….. I don’t understand what the problem is …stop fighting it and conform
Now I know where the saying “You can lead a horse to water”…..came from …. don’t be a horse.

I can’t get all the ingredients as easily in Canada. I’m in Florida and driving home around March 8th. I was thinking of stocking up here before we head home but worried about the latex glove cavity inspection I’ll get if the border cops find bags of white powder in the car.

I would do it just for that reason….. that would be a fun experience. You get gloves?….. I’ll bring that up next time :)

Just guessing here, but by the label "probiotic" would mean bacteria is being added.

The poopy powder is the opposite, it kills everything by over oxygenating it. Much like Oxy Clean.
I’m pretty sure the poopy powder encourages aerobic bacteria which doesn’t stink as bad as anaerobic bacteria that thrives in sewage that is low on oxygen.
