Anyone on here from there? Thinking about Lollapalooza in July... Is Grant Park on S. Lakeshore Dr. with the Buckingham Fountain? One of the marinas close by better than the other?

Yep, Chicagoan here. Dusable harbor is just due north and Burnham harbor is just due south. Both are a short walk from lolla with dusable likely being a little closer. If you’re a reciprocating yacht club member dusable has easy access to both Chicago yacht club and Corinthian yacht club. Burnham harbor has Burnham park yacht club. You should be able to make transient reservations at both via Dockwa. Feel free to message me if I can help with your planning

And to answer your original question, yes, lolla is at grant park where the fountain is.

Burnham YC.

Outsiders opinion. We like Dusable. It’s close to Navy Pier, Mariano’s Market and the area right around it seems a little more friendly to those who don’t have a car. We stayed at Burnham once because it has laundry, Dusable does not, or at least didn’t the last time we were there, but you may not care about that.

Lock your boat up, even at night. I'm on a Chicago boaters FB page and we're not more than a few weeks into the season...people are already boarding boats at night with the owners onboard...

so here is a safer alternative. Stay up in Winthrop Harbor or Waukegan and take the train. It’s a bit of a trek but depending it may be worth it.

Or just avoid Chiraq. I'd love to cut across to Burnham and take in a concert... but I'll pass.

I spent three nights at Dusable in July 2019. We had a blast. We thought the location was ideal for getting to/from the city via uber and walking over to Navy Pier.

But I've never experienced more noise from wildlife. There are raging seagull keggers/orgies every night on that damned breakwall. LOUD. Our noise makers couldn't even drown it out. It was insane...

Wisconsin is bad enough :p
WTF you wanna go to Shitcago for:confused:

Just kidding about cheese-head land:p:p:D. I lived in Beaver Dam for almost 10 years working in the hospital there.

I currently moore my boat at Burnham and it’s definitely some thing you need to be mindful of but haven’t had any issues to date. My wife and I often spend weekends on the boat as does 40 or 50% of our dock so perhaps there a sense of safety in numbers. Happy to chat directly if you’re looking for some more intel.

We’ve had several ships come in for a couple of weeks:

Appriciate the offer but I'm good. We have no plans to overnight there. Gorgeous city but I call it Chiraq for a reason...

We lived in Barrington for 20 years. Loved it. Dated my wife while she had a loft in the city. It was magical. Best sports city in America. Great to raise the family, travel hockey, great food, freshwater boating, great memories.

Then the Libs F’d it all up during COVID and we moved back to Florida. Problem is it’s not the same Florida I moved away from.

Everyone here is from NY. Sucks.
