We have booked a Disney Cruise with the kids. We are looking for suggested shore excursions, and particularly if anyone knows any good shore excursion companies.

The itinerary is:
June 7 to 14
Disney Magic – 7nt European sailing
Round trip Barcelona Spain
Visiting Villefranche, La Spezia, Civitavecchia, Naples

We are also spending a couple of extra days in Barcelona.

We would love any ideas, as many of the trips are between 1 and 2 boat dollars. Thanks in advance!

Bryan, stopping in Civitavecchia means you will be some 40 miles from the centre of Rome. I'm sure the cruise line will organize busses to the city for the day. Just drop off your bus and walk around, Rome is huge and in one day you will just get an idea of what my hometown is.

I do not know any excursion company, but I do not think you will really need one and I will be happy to help, just let me know your time plan.

The same applies to Naples with the difference that the harbor is "in" the city. You may want to go to Pompei an visit the ruins.

In La Spezia there's not much to do or see... unless they can organize a quick journey through the area on the north called "cinque terre", sceneries there are amazing, little fishermen's villages overlooking the sea...

We think we are set for Rome, with a basic tour with lots of free time. We are definitely looking to hit Pompeii, but off of the cruise that gets expensive. We have often found that the same tour companies run the same tours, but if you book directly, you can save 50% of the price. The trick, of course, being finding the right ones. We are looking forward to this trip, and wish we could spend more time, and wwe are staying in Barcelona a few days after the cruise. Ironically, this cruise was planned as an end of the school year trip, but with all of the snow days we have had, the kids will come home and go back to school.
