Can we help this guy. Says he never got a confirmation email. He is posting on Facebook trying to get in touch with PlayDate.

He just sent me a PM about an ignition problem. He sent it at 10pm last night.

I sent him a note back asking for his boat particulars and engine serial number.

I’m okay to help but this is off to a dubious start when I get 3 PMs in a span of 5 minutes then he posts 10 minutes later he hasn’t got a response.

    I’m not on FB.

This appears to be a no spark problem on a ECM controlled engine. Could be a lot of things but he dug up an old post about replacing a Thunderbolt distributor. o_O

Just to let you know after some back and forth his problem is solved. It turned out to be the sensor in his Thunderbolt distributor.

It would have been better as a thread rather than a private conversation.

You are welcome to post it as a completed thread if that is possible.

I do not respond to Facebook inquiries because of the time it takes to get the guy needing help to disclose all the pertinent information re: year, engine specifics, hp, serial#, CID, boat model, etc. needed to understand what he is working on much less what his problem is. I feel like I'm chasing a rabbit down a hole before I get to the problem and a solution.

    Frank,

I'm with you on that. Just about every problem that gets posted is in the middle of a story. Trying to figure out what actually happened consumes more time than solving the problem.

Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas.

I am always surprised people go to Facebook for help …..it has to be the worst place for that
