I wonder if Desantis over taxed his population by $10 Billion and then decided not to give it back or reduce taxes?

It's a wonder the good governor hasn't declared for president. I like DeSantis. And I prefer him to act as educated and reasonable as he is. I wish Trump would have stuck to policy and left the tweets to others. But I would gladly take mean tweets in lieu of inflation, recession and $4+ gas prices. Plus, no way Putin invades shit with Trump in office. I am sure the OP disagrees.

I am always interested in a Republican candidate that isn’t from the UltraMAGA Bat Shit Crazy Wing of the party. If they run a sane GOP candidate, I’d be interested again.

I'm always curious as to why there is a negative connotation attached to "Make America Great Again" by those leaning left. What's wrong with America being great? I mean when someone says socialist I understand immediately. But when MAGA is said with disdain I'm not sure what they are saying. Is anyone who supported Trump's policies UltraMAGA Bat Shit crazy? I'm not being a smartass or sarcastic, I am truly curious.

I could ask the same about the negative connotation around Antifa. We fought a world war around the idea of being. anti fascist.

No, not everyone who supports the policies is crazy. But I submit Boebert, MTG and Jim Jordan and of course Trump himself for your consideration as to why I left the GOP. That’s not the party I want to be part of anymore.

Well the problem with Antifa is that they behave like fascists. They dress up like Nazi storm troopers and only attack when they have numbers. They are bullies and thugs. Show me one video of one Antifa taking on 2 or 3 guys alone, and I can show 100 of 20 or 30 of them ganging up on one poor bastard.

I can't lump Jim Jordan in with MTG and Boebert. He is much smarter and somewhat more rational in his approach. Trump was "mean" which many confused with his policies. To be honest, I couldn't care less if Biden is a senile old dirt bag, if his policies were effective. He and Hunter could bang hookers and do blow all day for all I care. But he embarrassed this country in Afghanistan (which probably was the impetus for Putin invading Ukraine) and his economic policies have been a complete disaster. No shots at you in there. Just a conversation like we should be able to have.

Absolutely love having these conversations. I’m not a Biden fan, but supported him as I personally couldn’t support Trump. Ever. There has to be GOP candidates that can achieve the same basic policies without the dumbing down of America. I have to believe that is possible. But not if we keep electing the MTG and Boeberts of the world. I worry the new strain of Trumpism is even more troubling to me.

This goes into the elitiest mindset. Throughout history many authoritarian rulers came to power spouting populist and nationalist ideas. So it's a dog whistle to the elites when someone says "America is great," "we should control immigration" or any of a variety of America First type policies. Thus, they think it's the second comming of Hitler. But more importantly it challenges their place in society.

But the left is electing AOC, Ilhan Omar, Bernie etc. who are just as extreme or more so. They also dumb down America. It goes both ways.

Again, for those in the back, I am not a leftist. Never been. I think Bernie is a fool, Ileana an extremist. I respect AOC. I never voted anything but Republican until we nominated the embarrassment that is Trump. My concern isn’t about the left, it’s about my former party.

I happen to be in the front. But you missed my point. You can't just worry about the extremes on one side. They both have to concern you. As for AOC, I've watched too many of her videos to have any respect. "You literally can't pick yourself up by your boot straps, it's physically impossible".....
