What do you guys recommend for replacement manifolds and risers. Boat currently has Barr. The were done in 2018 and I will be changing them after boating season. Do you guys recommend factory MerCruiser or any after market that I haven't seen or heard of with good results. Thank you I appreciate it

I don't know how bad they are but some rust is starting to show on manifold and joints. Don't want to chance it. The PO did not do great upkeep like I do . I flush boat after every use with salt away and do feel that stuff does work. Just want to do preventative maintenance. Everything is fine with the boat now. Thanks

Mercruiser - I replaced mine last year and did a write up on it

I don't know . Mine were done in 2017 and I trailer my boat and flush with salt away. I thought I should have gotten 5 to 7 years but don't want any issues. I heard in fresh water a very very long time. Someone else will chime in

How often should they be replaced? On a trailered boat, stored indoors, used only in fresh water.
I’m not sure I’ll need to replace them ever again. My boat was in salt briefly before I brought it to fresh water. However in the link I provided above , you can see the elbows where in pretty bad shape. When I replaced them, the boat was 9 years removed from salt. I trailer mine.

Ollie , so you got mine years out of dry joint exhaust. That's damn good

Freshwater only - I have never replaced a manifold or a riser. They generally last the life of the engine - if one is replaced it is usually freeze damage.

Mine were done may of 2018 with barr and everything seems ok I think I will try to get one more year out of them

2nd owner on my boat, first owner kept it on a freshwater lake on a lift when not in use for about 20 years.

After I take the boat out I notice that the port side riser is cool to slightly warm and the starboard riser is fairly warm to the touch not to hot to touch but noticeable hotter the the port side, the engine temp reads about 170 degrees and doesn’t move past that after warmed up. Should I be be concerned?

Seems like every Mercruiser I have owned (4 out of 5 were/are big blocks), the stbd riser has always has been warmer than the port. Why? I have no clue.
