Hello Captains,
I have 1999 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer with Merc 7.4 inboards and want to install a flush kit with garden hose attachment. Any recommendations?
Thank you in advance.
If you have water lift mufflers, the engine should be running. They rely on exhaust pressure to keep from filling up and backing up into the exhaust ports.
There are hose fittings for raw water strainers that would let you start the engine, close the seacock, and flush while in the water.
On the 7.4 in my 270 I bought a 1 1/4” bronze T fitting and then added two hose fittings for the raw water inlet line to the sea pump. Then on the T added a ball valve and a garden hose fitting. When I’m done for the day I just hook the hose up with the salt away mixer, turn on the water, start the engine and let it run until the salt away looks mostly diluted (about 1 minute) then shut the engine down and put everything away. Costs just as much as the plastic commercially available ones but is all made of easily replaceable bronze fittings.
