Hi folks,
New to forum. Just bought a 2013 Sea Ray Sundeck 260. Looking to add a gps (don’t need fishfinder) but have limited room on the cockpit dash. Looking at the Simrad Cruise models but unsure if the 5 vs 7in would fit. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Look into RAM mounts - you can use those to mount the unit. There's lot's of options - the 1"or 1.5" ball system should work for you.

A 5" screen is very small for GPS use. You'll likely but squinting at the scree, or doing a lot of scrolling and zooming. Either way its a lot heads-down time.

I have a Simrad unit that functions as my VesselView monitor for my Cummins engine gauges. It's small even for that, and I don't particularly like how the Simrad system operates. It's not intuitive to me. If you are serious about the Simrad, try to get some hands-on time with one somewhere.

I'm a fan of how the Garmin systems operate - they generally make sense to me. They have a number of smallish format models that are very very good. And like Lazy Daze said, most anything can be installed on a RAM mount.

Thanks for the info. I opted for a Ram Mount with an iPad mini running navionics to get me started. We’ll see...

how did this work for you? ipad battery issues? screen timeout?

At least a Garmin 74 sv
It's not that big
