Downtown Cambridge still has issues, especially restaurant-related.
Bistro (didn't know this place): closed, now an El Cabrito Mexican Grill. Decent lunch, actually.
Theo's: closed. Turning into The High Spot/Amber Room (resurrecting an old name) sometime. Said Sept, but work is still in progress. We wouldn't have gone to a Theo's anyway; too expensive for our tastes.
Canvasback: closed, owner passed away.
Jimmy & Sook's: closed
Black Water: very decent breakfast
Ava's: open but we didn't go there
Portside: open, but not on Tuesday when we might have gone there
Snapper's: open, decent
There's an Indian restaurant, don't remember the name, not open on Mondays... or else wasn't open because Monday was the holiday.
Blue Ruin: closed as of 9/4 for their two week "summer break" -- (hard to imagine them wanting to ignore potential holiday business).
I think there are a couple other small-ish counter-service places...
FWIW, our best docking in Cambridge was at Mid-Shore Electronic's dock inside Cambridge Creek. (Years ago, a couple times.) Dunno if they're available if you're not in the area for an installation or service.
There's a free (I think) wall on the bight to starboard just as you enter Cambridge Creek, just past Snapper's. Looks like a decent deal, actually, well-protected... although it'd be like anchoring (no shorepower) up against a dock. Concrete wall, would need good fendering.
