How to flush your fresh water system without using the Pink stuff

This is what I have done for the past 4 winters since I have owned the boat with washer/dryer and no issues in the spring either.
Good to know. I think i'll give it a try. Also this means no need to bypass the hotwater heater?

So now this begs the question...When you do your winterization with the pink, do you start your washer to get pink into it too?

No, just start the washer while the air is still connected and let it blow it self out. Only need a little pink for the drain cycle.

I have no bypass setup either. I start this same process with draining the hot water heater first.. Then proceeding with the rest..

No still bypass it as draining 12gal with air might not get it all out since there is still some water below the outlet.

You should put in a bypass kit so you only need to flip two valves and pop the over temp and flip the drain.

Don't have to get every ounce, plenty of room for expansion. Time proven technique

I got the system. Camco brass water Schraeder valve, screws into the city water connection if you have one. Then hook up a 12v tire air pump. Blows out all the water lines. First drain hot water tank. Open faucet one at a time till it spits. Keep running til you sure it’s drained. Pause every few minutes cause those pumps get hot. Eventually open all, leave all faucets open all winter for expansion and scofflaw said. Takes 15 minutes. Method has never failed me many years, never cracked a line.

I find those types of pumps don’t have enough volume, and are not rated for continuous use (hence they get hot). That’s why I use my 15 gallon portable compressor.

And I use the other type of adapter because many won’t lock onto that Schraeder valve.

Do not see that amazon unit adds any function or help. A simple air hose to garden hose connector from the local hardware store does the job. Disconnect the air hose to stop air flow. KISS

Gravity and this simple connection is all I’ve used now for years. Built the thing myself. Even took the screen out of my faucet and made a connection to blow them out as well. $2.00 and some thought. Easy peasy
