Jescar - Power Lock Plus

Please post your results over time as well. For me, it's way too soon to judge the usefulness of Powerlock. It has a solid track record on cars for sure, so I'm not thinking it's bogus. But the test of a sealant is never immediate results, but longevity. If there's anything I've learned from detailing cars, is 99% of the shine comes from the prep and polishing (ie, compounding, NOT sealant/wax/coating) of the substrate. How smooth and oxidation free is the paint--or gelcoat in this case. Putting a wax or sealant on mediocre surface will do a little as it levels things out a bit.

I've seen cars and boats shine like glass without anything on them. Adding the wax/sealant/coating can add to the last few percent of glossiness, but they mainly protect the work. There are a lot of products out there, and saying a sealant is a wax is a coating is like comparing Elmers craft glue to 5200 because they're both 'adhesives'. Sealants are incredibly durable. The goal is for next year to have it look as good as it does now after just a wash. A good sealant will protect from UV, make things hydrophobic, and make things easier to clean. And if it behaves the same next year as it does now, then it's a win.

Agree. You make great points. Time will tell. You're right, in the automotive field Jescar has a proven track record. Not as much talk about boats. I will keep you posted.

My first impression is a good one. My boat gets a lot of bird poop, so time will tell how this holds up.

You never said you were covered….. a wet paper towel will keep that shiny :)
I tried power lock and didn’t feel it performed any better than normal wax. It was on blue and outside though

Haha, I won't disagree, neighbor has a 42 Sea Ray blue hull, he used the same detailer, looks really nice.

She was slipped outdoors before I bought her last year. I do get a lot of afternoon sun on the bow, life is tough.
