Memorial Day Weekend 2023

My admiral was diagnosed with breast cancer a month ago and we'll be going through treatment (2 rounds of chemo, surgery then radiation) for the next ~6 months. Fortunately the docs say it's the most common form, the most curable, and we caught it early, so we're very optimistic, just have to get through the process.

That probably wipes out our boating season, best I can hope for is that she feels well enough to at least go condo on the boat for a weekend here and there, but we'll see.

I'll be boating vicariously through you all, so I expect to see lots of pics!

We are heading to the lake today, Supposed to be sunny and low 80s every day. Lake is still chilly, low 70s. Just me and the Admiral, which is a first for Memorial day in over 20 years. Probably hit the tiki bar.
Lake water at 70 is chilly??? I’d swim in that all day!!

Hey Patton, for what it’s worth, my Wife Debbie was diagnosed about 5 maybe 6 years ago, tiny, caught early. Went thru the procedure. Honestly and I really dont mean to sound like a dick but it was no big deal. At first we freaked, but her docs were Johns Hopkins, we live in Baltimore. Couple of treatments, some pills that she finally got done with, no hair loss or other stuff you hear about. Fortunately it was caught extremely early. The did do a very minor in-out surgery to remove whatever it was. Hope your wife experiences the same.

I know it’s easy to say, and I know what kind of crap you’re through, but I bet she’ll be just fine!

I’m sure it is a shock. When i had my biopsy results and we went to see doctor who proceeded to inform me that i had tongue cancer and what it was going to entail I will never forget my exact words to him. “Jesus Farking Christ! Are you Farking kidding me! This is Farked Up! What The Fck!” Only a little more direct.
First time wife didn’t correct my language and Doc didnt bat an eye.
Nobody is prepared for it. She be fine. NOTE I DIDNT SAY I HOPE SHE BE FINE! My wife still thanks me for being her shoulder. Fark that boat! Be there for her.

Thanks guys, I didn't mean my post to spoil hearing about everyone's plans, but I appreciate the support! Last week we were on the boat and she asked if we were going to be able to go on our annual trip to the San Juans or Canada this year, and I basically told her that I'm not counting on doing any trips this summer. She teared up. I told her our focus has to be on getting her healthy, and then we can do some winter boating. It WAS a shock, but she WILL get better.

I was out on Lake Huron this morning out of Cheboygan, MI with the fishing boat. Awesome lake...but the bug hatch is pretty thick and annoying right now. The lake is forecast to lay flat through Monday and no rain in the 10 day outlook.

Patton, like others the thoughts and prayers for you two are real. We have a family friend going through treatment now, and remember, your wife may want some sense of normalcy, so if she wants to go out on the boat, take her out. It doesn’t have to be long or she could want to overnight/take a trip. Our friend has had good days and a few bad ones, but she still wanted to take a trip to Florida recently. Let her guide your desire to focus on her too.

I am working half a day tomorrow then going to look at a boat. The rest of the weekend I have to finish cleaning the patio and back hill.

A few Sea Rays for your viewing pleasure. A 260 Dancer, my 268, a 230 bow rider and im not sure what the larger white SR is but it is sweet We have about eight house boats with us as well. I'm swinging on the hook and with the wind and waves its rocking us to sleep.

Past two days hung local around here, Red Eyes, Big Owl etc. Heading out today to Baltimore for the rest of the weekend. Going to catch the Orioles game on Sunday. There is strength in numbers, going with four other boats, so it should be a blast!
