Hi, I'm in the process of purchasing a 40MY 2007. I've looked around the boat, and the internet for answers but no luck. So.

My question is how are people installing accessories like dinghy davits to the swim platform of the 390/40 MY? The platform seems built like a pontoon or bustle, unlike the platform on my Sundancer 290 that was accessible from the bottom.

I need to bolt through the davit hinges with backing plates below the deck.

On our 390 Motor Yacht which is similar a to your boat, dinghycady.com was installed by previous owner. On starboard side, bolts and backing plate were installed via access door in aft head. On port side, a round access port was installed underneath swim platform cover.

Works well, no issues with setup which holds our 8.5 foot dinghy and 8 hp motor.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Excellent answer. Forgot about the aft head access panel. And I was thinking about two of those access ports. Great idea to do one, hidden by swim ladder cover.
Happy travels to you!

I just acquired a 2005 390, that has davit system for the dinghy on the swim platform. I believe it is a dinghy caddy brand system, but don't know. It works okay but it is a pain to walk around the pully system.
