Boat Info
Sea Ray 190 bow rider sport
Engines
4.3 160 mercruser
I just bought my first sea ray,I have owned three or four other boats (none as good as this one). I’ve been retired for a few years so I should be using this one a while. It isn’t new, actually it’s a 190 ,19’ bow rider I/O 4.3 160hp. 1996 model. Pretty good shape and I was told it’s only been in freshwater. I intend to use it in saltwater mostly to do a little fishing in the bay in Matagoda bay. I know it’s pretty shallow so I’m going to have to be very careful until I learn this area, as I only moved down here reciently. I bought a lowrance to put on it and I will be putting what ever else I need on it as it comes up. Got an app for my phone which shows the
Nautical info I should need.

Congrats on your new to you Sea Ray. Let’s see some pictures.

Congrats, can’t wait to see pics!

Hi waterdog! We’re up in Seabrook but have a great friends who fish matagorda. Congrats on the boat!

Waterdog, for those of us not familiar with where you will be fishing, could you please fill in the blanks on your profile so we know where you love?

Thanks, and welcome to CSR

Myself and my older sister only moved down here to Palacios about September last year. It’s about 15-20 miles south of Bay City Tx.

Starting to be a little concerned, I haven’t had any luck getting the boat to continue running after initial few revolutions.

Dogman, read my thread in General Discussion/ overheating. 3 month fiasco. Take the boat to the pros. I tried to nickel and dime, cost me whole summer. Dont be that guy (me).

Thanks pirate, I took my boat all the way over to port O’Connor today , pretty good drive for this old fart.. The man that worked on it went pretty straight away to the problem. The switch had several wires loose and the switch wasn’t very good either. He put a new switch in and it sent the signal straight to the fuel pump and it cranked right up. Tomorrow I’m thinking of taking it out and catching a few red drum.

I’ve normally found if you find competence then problems solved.I’m still reading that thread,it’s a long one.

Sorry for the break, well I took my little boat out couple of days ago. It did great, had it out for couple of hours or more and it barely used any fuel at all. Has terrific fuel consumption and pretty tite little bow rider. Didn’t want to get too rambunctious until I put my hummingbird on. Like flying blind. Oh sorry I haven’t made any pictures yet either but I promise I will soon.

I must say, I do remember one place I loved (fishing) that is, it is a little double jetty on mustang island next to a state area. These two short jetties some times have waves slightly enough for young people to surf. That side of the jetty has an undertow which bait fish love and I’ve caught some nice fish there. Also the bait from which to catch them with. In my few years of fishing, I have found if you know where the bait is at a specific time of the day, there you will also find your quarry( fish)

Oh! And by the way the only picture I posted so far is my avatar,I believe. And that one probably wouldn’t scare one as bad that way as it’s a picture of me.

I’m back, had personal circumstances that have kept me away and busy. If I ever get caught up with things I still promise to post up some pictures of my boat. Haven’t been able to squeeze in much time to use her but it is going to happen. Last time I put it in one of my bunks came loose on my trailer. I’ve made two more for it but will need to launch to change them out.

Keep using the boat. We are in LaPorte so not too far away from you

Familiar with La Porte I have a friend who lived there until getting married. He now lives in Texas City(La Marque). He goes deep sea fishing off and on. I just ate some sailfish he gave me.
I know my searay isnt too large to deepsea fish but Im hoping to be able to get out afew miles maybe for some snapper or something. I have gone out of port aransas on a number of occations onparty boats. I also have some cobia he gave me,Ive never eaten ling hope I cook it a good way.
