Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

I was never able to get the main TV to work in the galley, so I am about to replace the tv but it needs a new tv mount. Question(s) :
1)I know not to drill too deep as to hit the sliding cabin door but how deep are the electronics on the other side? ; and
2) Where does the tv plug into as the old tv has a different power cord and it winds back somewhere behind the tv and side rail- see picture. Any thoughts? ( also the little drop down one in the lower back shows power but I was never able to power it up at all) - ok that is technically 3 questions ;)

1. The existing mount is attached to 1/2" starboard or some other synthetic material, so I would drill more than an inch or so.
2. The existing tv is plugged into a 110vac outlet located behind the circuit breaker panel. Remove the 4 screws from the DC panel and it will fall forward - you should be able to see and get to the outlet.
3. On the small flip down tv, it's probably shot and it is no longer available and there are no parts available (I took mine to 3 different places to attempt to get it fixed), so I bought a Jensen (12vdc) and an overhead mount and just replaced the whole thing along with a new DVD player.

That is perfect - the picture helps a lot!!
I’ll probably just leave the drop tv up there for now and move it down on the priority list! Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks - Does your Glomex work switching between Cable at the dock and over the air ? I couldn’t get it to work on 2 separate TVs I tried on the boat…thanks again ( I do miss Lake Lanier as I had a boat at Aqualand for years when I lived there)

I'm on Allatoona and have DISHTV installed on the dock which works ok. OTA has been non-existent here since I've had the boat. So it's either the Glomex itself, or the local tower locations, or I've got a bad connection somewhere inside the boat that I have not found yet.

Just read your write up and awesome . Wish I could have used the existing mount but does fit the new tv. I just drilled three holes for the new mount for my 32” tv so fingers crossed ( didn’t sound or feel like I hit anything)

Thanks for all the help. Finished this morning. Mounted the new tv mount, fed the power cord behind the electrical panel to the outlet, and replaced the shroud/frame. Old original 23” tv had a bad cable connection so it went in the trash. Pictures attached with 32” tv.

With this type of mount, will the t v stay put when underway or will you have to add some kind of strap? What mount did you you here?

How do I fix or clean the following where windows are ?

Looks like there is Velcro in the second pick mounted to the plywood strips to hold it in place.

I actually used the Onn brand Model 100027964 from Walmart @$30. Went out in the Atlantic yesterday and in 2 Ft seas the tv on the mount did pull away a bit as designed but tomorrow I will have to revisit securing it down either by the Velcro that Chris-380 pointed or another way so it stays flush against the wall.

Need to swap the depth/temp transducer on our 2008. For anyone who has done this, how did you reach it? I tried to contort myself down and between the engines today. I can sort of reach it, but can't see it and reach it at the same time. I had debated pulling and replacing in the water but not if I can't see what I'm doing the whole time. Hoping someone else who has tackled this has a better idea.
What transducer are you replace with ?
I’m trying to find out what degree I need
Ever get it out ?

So I removed the paddle wheel on the boat and put in a Garmin Airmar B60....
AIRMARB6050/200KHZBronzeLowAPIRro-B60-20-MM 20 Deg | Includes Mix N Match Cable

Not too Happy with it though... As now I'm finding out its really for smaller boats... It does give water temp & depth though... But I notice sometimes I get blinking depth as im cruising...

So I’m guessing I’m not the only one who has a problem with the padding on the bolster twisting…

What is the best way to deal with this?? I usually correct them at the end of the day, but the helm seat has twisted to the point that I can’t seem to correct it.
Is there a good way to keep this from happening? All three seats seem to not stay where it should.

And I tried to turn the pic several times. It doesn’t like me. :(

It looks like the anchor light has two bulbs, one forward and the other facing the stern to give a 360 degree light when an anchor. When I hit the anchor light switch only the front lights so I assume it just needs a bulb if I understand the set up correctly.
So my question is - how the hell do you change the bulb with the light so high up? To make matters worse I have to soft top option and wonder if I need to remove this and get a huge ladder? Does the light fold forward?
Please help a new 340 owner :)
