Official 270 SLX Thread (There HAS to be enough of us!)

I never had water in that space (to be fair I only checked it once). I assumed that space had the foam for buoyancy and structural support and was a necessity of design. I doubt it is supposed to have water in there. I would imagine a shop vac could draw much of the water out, but I could only guess how it got in there to begin with.

Hi does anybody know what windshield wiper replacement to get for the 270slx?
Mine does have one on there currently. Do I need to go to sea ray dealer to buy it or can I buy one somewhere online? Thank you.

correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no seacock to empty the waste from the toilet out the bottom of the boat? The only way to remove waste is through the back near the water fill tank right?

Anybody know how I can get to the back of the radio to check the wiring? My port back and mid speakers usually don't work but occasionally go on. I think it's a bad/loose connection.

Going off memory, but I think you remove the faceplate then remove screws and slide chassis out.

Yes, but be careful. I pulled my radio and the connecting wires were short. It was a PITA to get one of them plugged back in.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll get lucky and it's just a loose connection in the back causing my 2 speakers to sometimes work and sometimes not.

Is there a way to see how full the water tank is without actually opening the hatch to look at it? I can seem to find a water tank gauge.
Also is there a way to see ocean temp from the factory navman unit off the transducer? Thanks guys

Mine did not have a water level measurement. I do not remember seeing it in the schematics as an option either.
I could read water temp on my smart craft gauges but not on the Navman.

Thank you. I will play around with the smart craft gauges then to see where it is.

Hello! New some advice/help on a couple items my Dad and I cannot figure out on our own.

1. Unfortunately, the the middle seat cushion on the stern walk-through was lost. Having the hardest time finding a replacement, we've considered getting one made but need dimensions. Can anyone provide those or have suggestions on where to find replacements?

2. The anchor went out on Saturday, it's being fixed but to hoist the anchor back up we used the "star" tool to loosen the winch (I believe it's a windlass) and with our luck, the tool dropped in the lake. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement or it's model number?

Looking forward to having conversations about our boats, it's been a great family boat on the lake!

This year is my first year using my boat.
I notice that every other week whenever I check the gear lube fluid it drops below the add line. I have been refilling it.
I guess I got a leak somewhere?
It's a 496 mag with the bravo 3 outdrive.

If you do not see lube in the bilge, then likely the seals near the prop. Look for sheen in the water. Get it pressure tested and fixed right away because it can draw water in instead of pushing oil out and those lower gear cases are super expensive....

Hi there. Brand new to boating and we love our new 2014 270. I am having a devil of a time figuring out how to operate my Windlass anchor system. I remove the safety catch but the anchor does not lower when I operate the dash controls, of which there are two. One switch on the dash appears to turn it on and the other for raise and lower. No matter what I do in whichever combination I can’t seem to get it to work. What am I missing?

I have a 2008 and assume that yours is similar to mine. I recently had a similar problem. It should be as simple as pressing the left button to "turn in on" and the second controls "up and down". The first switch should light up when "on", however, when I would turn mine on it wouldn't light. That being said, it was not getting power and it wasn't fuse. It was actually a faulty fuse holder pin connection. It was located on a board to the right of the batteries, I had several fuse holders and it is easier to find with a test light or meter. Let me know if that helps any.

There is also a breaker in the engine bay on the port side. Mine tripped one time and I had to pull it up by hand after a long day anchored. When we got back to the boat lift we traced the wires back and saw the breaker was tripped. Easy fix.
