I'll start the official thread since I seem to be the only one on the forum with one. picking mine up tomorrow! hopefully more on CSR will choose one so I can ask questions.

Um, definitely going to need to see pics. I hear those verado outboards are pretty thirsty.

I think you will make a great ambassador... need pics of your journey south!

Very interested to hear your thoughts on the boat and see some pics. I've heard it has good cabin space

I think the first thing I would do is "break it in" and then start my journey home.

thirsty? yes if running hard. i ran the boat at over 30mph and it was at about .8mpg

at normal speeds it's not bad, i think best cruise is probably 1.3ish

the boat planes at about 4400 rpm's and does it really quick. tons of out of the water power. it seems to perform about like my previous sterndrive 290. carves nice, but with the outboards up higher, i was aware of not carving too sharp. when going fast over rougher water, the outboards did get out of the water some and over rev.
i want to put a PWC on the swim platform soon (the 400 pound Spark). i have no worries about too much performance loss.

Sounds good! You picked a cold week for your run though. Can't wait to see some pictures.

i think the best cruising fuel mileage is at about 4600 rpm's, traveling at about 26 mph.

I'm curious about the propellers, size, type? Did they ever modify the verado gearcase to swing larger than 16" diameter props? I heard one of the issues was getting a good bite at slower cruising speeds. You said it jumped on plane and cruised well at 26 MPH so that sounds like a non issue.

better than 1.0 mpg on a 37' boat is awesome

lets see some pictures

Richie, great to follow you in this and the other thread as you took your boat home. you passed right by my cruising grounds in the bay between the Rap and York Rivers.. can get nasty in there and imagine even worse in the cold. Would love to hear how the layout of the boat is working for you - cabin especially.. i'm a tall guy and it looks like the rear berth is fairly roomy. Also very curious in how long it took you to start feeling comfortable handling the boat with the outboards ? I'll be following your posts closely, as I've stated this boat is very much on my radar... had to be pretty nice pulling your new baby into the slip and raising those outboards and key mechanical equipment right out of the water with no worries !

i would love to see pictures of the stuff Sea ray doesnt show you. Shore power hook up, water hook up, the actual, practical place you store stuff....pfd's, lines, fenders, throw able pfd, spare/second anchor those used to be stored for most of us in the tramsom locker but this beauty stores outboards in the twin lockers.
this thing is leaping into my radar for the future.

after bringing boat home, i had to spend a week away from where i keep the boat at the coast. but this weekend spent more time getting acquainted. i continue to like the boat more and more the more i learn about it. i love just about everything about it. took the family on a 2hour cruise to a restaurant we like and whole family love it!

with the bow thruster, i'm loving the way it docks. it feels like a really heavy boat as in it doesn't get blown around by wind or current.
the cockpit feels huge! my kids kept saying how big it is up top.
the only thing i need to sort is that with the outboards, it doesn't have a typical rear locker. instead it has 2 floor storage areas off the back between the engines for fenders, lines, etc. wife doesn't like, because she's really small with short arms and the storage is deep. i'm going to have to come up with a better line storage for her. she liked the sun dancer line holders in the stern locker that kept them tidy.
my new dock neighbor is about as informed on boats as anyone i've ever met. used to be USCG. now has a sedan bridge. he taught me a lot this weekend about the boat. i had an annoying alarm going off, called Sea Ray and they couldn't figure it out, but he did as a low battery alarm. he said all the electronics i have are eating up power so on trips, i need to fire up the genny and charge batteries. he also is so impressed with the boat! he loves the mechanical room.
having the outboards are awesome! the tilt almost all the way out of the water. Sea Ray put in exterior water inlets so flushing is very quick and easy as you don't have to even open the engine coverings. tilt, hookup water, let run for 10-15 minutes while unloading, and that's it.
i'm going to add some quick disconnects to hose so i don't even have to screw hose into water connectors.

thats awesome with the flushing. i was wondering if you could flush them while on a hook, if you knew you were only staying one night, you wouldnt need a full water tank so you could flush them out.

im not a huge fan of center access to the bow. no real access to the center cleat unless you remove canvas

small things would bother me about conveniences lost from one boat to another but you did gain a ton of actual, usable space. and i bet that full beam suite is alot more comfortable than the v_berth you came from.

i like that my wife can safely access all the cleats while holding onto grab rails

anyone know if the engine and gear oil can be pumped out for changing so i don't have to haul out?

You should be able to pump the engine oil out, but not sure how you will access the foot/ gear oil. That is an interesting question. I would hope there is an easier way, other than a haul out.

Lower gear oil only needs to be replaced once a year so a haul out for this allows you to wax and other things.
