Preparing to install radar on our 340. The price for a piece of pipe and two flat plates welded together is nuts. The light bar for the anchor light was going to cost $ 116.00 for aluminum. Bought a piece of thin wall SS. 304 tubing for $13.00 and bent it up myself. Got the radar mount for $99.00 on ebay it needed a coat of paint. Turned a piece of SS. for an adaptor to go from the ID of the tubing to the 3/4" opening on the mount.

Right, but how much did that tubing bender, a lathe, and skill to use the lathe cost? I'm pretty handy and would I'd love to do that too, but don't have access to the tools. And can't justify buying them for the projects I tackle. What you're paying for is not just the materials cost, but also the premium for not having to shell out for your own tooling.

Kind of like how very specialty drugs are being priced now. It's not just the cost of materials plus a recovery on the fixed cost; it's about how much a life is worth. Not saying its right - but it's a different line of thought.

At those prices the tool would have been paid off in no time. I don't mind paying for something but when you can do it there's no way I'm paying those prices.

I fought this one for a while too, and am very happy with my purchase, including the new LED light. Your neighbors will not like the light, though.

Can you post the info on the light you settled with?

From the first video, it's this one.

It comes stand-alone, or along with the light bar. Sea View makes good stuff. I have one of their tapered masts on my boat.

Slightly off topic, but browsing their website I noted that Seaview is now making Starlink mounting accessories and pedestals.

I see on your channel someone ask the same thing i've been wondering. Are you able to have just the forward facing light come on (steaming) while underway and have them all on only when anchored? I think this would require 3 wires coming from the light.

There website leaves a lot to be desired. Is that light Anchor and Nav. or just Anchor? Meaning is there 3/4 wires or just 2?

Yeah they have had the StarLink mount for a short while. A place in Ft Laud. FL is using it for there domes. In fact it looks like their pic's of the mount.
Thanks Brad.

EDIT: @Irie308 I found the info here https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0014/4018/6466/files/LTBLED12_04-21-2022.pdf?v=1650915725

It is both anchor and nav or steaming as they call it. Looks like a great light. I am going to order this one as my current one decided not to work any longer. ...

Yes, it has three wires, ground anchor and navigation. It's not a great light, it's an amazing light. After installing it I left it on for a while in my slip, my slip neighbor's literally asked me to turn it off it was so bright.
