I want to remove the stock clarion speakers on my boat to see what size they are and start looking at replacements. Is there a trick to getting that white cover off without breaking anything? I'm sure I can just pry it off but I would like to be able to Re use it if I need to.

Also anybody know what the stock size is? It's a 2000 240da.

I thought you had to twist them clockwise I believe. (could be counter clockwise)? I's been a few years since I replaced mine. Also, 6.5" is the exact fit. JL Audio makes a nice set that fits perfectly.

I was actually contemplating the kicker 6.5's with the led lights in them to match the blue led cockpit lights I have

They should fit, you may need to drill new screw holes, but that's no big deal. You will, however, have to have power wires for the LED function. So while they will fit, they are not simple swap outs.

I just replaced my old Clarions - the cover twists and pry's off. Took a little finesse but they finally came off.

Anybody put the infinity marine 6.5s in a sea ray? Great reviews but one review says they are actually more like 7 inches and he had to cut the speaker hole to make it fit. I don't want to do that.

I thought my 2003 had Clarion but they were Panasonic speakers. I had to twist off the old covers. Ended up selling the speakers for $40 on craigslist. Here are a few pictures. I went from the Panasonics to JLs 7.7s. I did have the enlarge the opening a little bit. Maybe 1/8" all around.

I ended up putting in wet sounds. Really happy with the results

I'm trying to figure out how to remove the grill from the stock speakers on my 240 sundeck. Can someone confirm if they were pry off or twist off? Any videos to share?

Any special tips or tools you used to get the grill off? I'm having the same problem and can't figure out how to remove.

You could try a strap wrench. However, if you're replacing them anyway maybe just use a pry bar as I doubt they're worth much at 14 years old.
