Hello, I'm looking for a replacement cockpit cover and bow cover for my 1996 175br XL. I reached out to Great Lake Boat Top and they have the bow cover but not the cockpit cover for the 96. However they have the cockpit cover for the 1997 175 br. Does anyone know if this will fit? They can neither confirm nor deny whether it'll work. Thanks

I just looked up the parts for the 1996 vs 1997 SR 175 BR XL and they share the same convertible tops based on SR part numbers. This should mean the same GLBT parts. The SR part manual does not list the cockpit cover for 1996 but is does in 1997 so my guess is it was not available for the earlier year but introduced the following year. Based on this GLBT would not be able to offer you the part for a 96 even though the 97 is probably the same setup and would work.
In this situation we would be able to order a cockpit cover for the 1997 model for you but there would be no "guaranteed fit" extended on the sale by GLBT. Unfortunately the risk would lie with you.

Yes and no. I currently have one on it from Walmart and when I'm pulling it, the dang thing becomes a parachute and destorys my MPG. That's why I was shying away from those. I realize one made to custom fit it would be more ideal than just a generic from Walmart. But with little knowledge on how they react when towing, I was looking for more of a direct replacement

The exact fit covers generally fit quite well - as close to custom as you will get for the price as each is designed for the particular model shown.
Westland and GLBT both operate out of the same facility and we distribute both. Generally the concern with the exact fit covers is that if there is a Bimini or Convertible top in use they are not compatible (unless you remove the frame set).
