The A/C unit in the salon on my 06 44DA now sounds like a coffee grinder. The blower fan is about to fail and I assume it is best to just put in a new unit. I would like to hear from anyone who has gone through this, suggestions for what appears to be a difficult removal, and also what did you replace it with. Did you stick to 12,000 btu, or go with something more. What brand did you go with? TIA

I replaced on a 410 with a CTM 16k from Citimarine.

I am referring to a 420/440 DA. Anyone who did this, were you able to remove the old unit somehow through the triangle without cutting anything? Central vac is already removed and out of the hole.

You can get it out by just cutting a couple of parts of the triangle that holds the small tray.

Cut a piece of cardboard the same size as the existing units drip tray and find the best angle that works and cut a couple of notches in the triangle. I can't remember which way mine was and I don't have any pictures but it came out through the triangle with no visible cut marks when the plastic tray was inserted in the top.

We replaced ours in August 2016. The tech that did the work had done one very recently. It wasn’t a pretty job, but as @swaterhouse said, you couldn’t see anything with the tray in. I can’t find a picture, but I’ll keep looking.
