Starlink

I was curious about the ends as well. Does it connect to the antenna at all?

if you drill holes through the wall to secure it, you have to be very careful not to overtighten the fasteners. There is no internal support structure for that and the walls are not very thick. Consider some kind of glue before drilling holes.

Glad you said that, I was going to drill and countersink as I thought it was solid. Guess I will clamp and glue with 4200

This is what the inside looks like:

I used a 20% infill.

Oh. Here’s a photo of the inside of one of those pieces. You can see towards the bottom how there is additional structure around the holes designed in the piece. They can handle through bolts with that structure. But other areas will collapse if squeezed too hard. You could drill a larger hole and slide a bushing through for support.

Well a picture is worth 1000 words there. Glue it is should be fine.

Just an FYI, There is infill that is designed to keep it from collapsing but I didn’t consider using it here.

Set it in the roof and looks good. I also held it up around the dishy and it fits perfect. So back home glue it together, and paint it.

Envious of you guys with hardtops to flat mount these. Such a clean install when flush mounted.

So used some more angled aluminum and sheet metal screws to join the 2 pieces together, worked perfect. Then took apart and bonded all together with Loctite Marine sealant (aka 5200). Now will dry then sand and fill, sane and fill, sand and primer then paint. Not sure what the best filler will be? Any rec’s??? I wonder could this be gel coated?

Now on to the wifey’s to do list around the house….

Looks like it will be perfect Grant. Much nicer then having it sitting on a post.
Yes the more I see it I am excited to get ride of that mount. Fricken ugly and bugs me.

I want to do a similar thing when I take the dome off of the boat and mount it there. But until I get to that mine is a bit lower then yours is so not quite as bad but still want to move it.

Ok so flush mount project is still in full swing. Heading home from Houston today to lots of sanding and painting ahead for the weekend.

on another note I joined a couple of Bahamas groups on facebook and found that streaming Youtube, Hulu, Prime etc does not work well in the Bahamas as it is Geo blocked. Some say VPN works and some say does not. I know what a VPN is but no idea how I would set this up using my Firesticks and Starlink set up. What do you experts recommend?

If you want it smooth, you can use bondo or epoxy to fill in between the print lines.

You need to subscribe to a VPN service, I use NordVPN, and then install the app on the firestick, tablet, PC, etc. The purpose of the VPN is to encrypt all of your internet traffic from your point of origin to the VPN server. When running the VPN app you can select which country you want to connect to, such as the United States, then all of your internet traffic looks like it is originating from the United State.

Grant @ocgrant LTD is correct. You need to connect to a VPN service like Nord or Express. they are VPN services that you connect through and keep your browsing private, as mentioned it will allow you to connect as though your connecting from the US. A friend that is a world traveler uses Express and he is able to see/use the US Netflix app.

The question though is if you connect your iphone to vpn are you able to stream to your TV which is most likely on a different network (starlink) since you've initiated the vpn to mask your phone's try ip address?

Not quite sure what your asking since you reference StarLink and a VPN at the same time?

For me I use a private VPN to my house. The boat is a client and so is my phone, so when out in public I can still access the boat remotely is I want to.

So if my tv and iphone are connected to starlink and I'm getting a 192.168.x.x ip on both. When I initiated the vpn on my iPhone will my iPhone still see my TV over Wi-Fi to allow me to stream to it?

Ok so how many devices can you use it on? I have 4 TVs, (only a couple will be used at the same time) they are all set with fire sticks. I don’t have to do anything with my Peplink or Cisco AP?
