Starlink motor crapped out on me this weekend. Contacted support via the app and I have to send it in and wait a couple weeks for an RMA. That sux! Just in time for boating season. Based on usage (4 months) motors didn't hold up too well.

Why don't you bypass the motors? You don't need them.

Didn't sort out my mounting options in time. At this point I may have to expedite. Fortunately its stuck in the face up position so it works when we are at anchor but when we leave for the weekend or at the dock I've been leaving it facing out the window of the bridge. Was hoping to get by until end of season where I can have the arch mount fabricated.

OMG... So I opened a case to find out where my new Dishy is and they tell me they don't show any order....GREAT. I proceeded to tell them i clicked on the special offer email that was sent to me and they acknowledge the special offer but said they don't show any order. We argue back and forth for a couple days. I can't find the email in my Gmail account...weird. Finally this morning they tell me if you want it we will process it at the special price. I agreed and immediately they hit my card and I get confirmation emails it will ship tomorrow. What a pain in the ass....

Well that sucks, hopefully the order goes through this time. Curious how your going to mount this bigger dish? Just use their flat mount?

I was never able to get an answer to any of my emails, when I was asking about the quality of service and what to expect.

Grant, very glad you posted this. Took a look and the exact same thing seems to have happened to me. If two of us have this issue, I suspect the ordering routine was broken and that there are many, many more. Anyway, I've opened a case and am waiting to hear back. I have a copy of the offer email if you ever need it.

I now have an order in the system, with a time of one minute before yours of today. Betcha they did a blanket fix for the orders which were overlooked and dumped them all at once. I did put in a case but as far as I can see, no human has gotten around to looking at it as yet.

Yep they sure could use some better customer service. It is worse than dealing with the cable company. Growing pains I guess, I know Elon is better than this.

Yes planning on using their mount, it is pretty low profile. I will probably paint it white though as the grey just doesn't look that good to me.

Yeah, painting it white is a good idea. Just watch the cable plug in, put lots of dielectric grease on it. That is apparently a failure point.

And the shit show continues… Now I know why customers tell me Tesla is not a customer service friendly car company. Got 2 new in motion systems yesterday (double shipped and double billed). Support ticket still not answered for over a week. Then to top it off I open one to prep for install and find no wedge mount. Do some research and find it ships separately from a third party vendor and can take up to 3 weeks with no tracking info… WTF Elon…. Really??? Not a happy camper right now!!!

Glad I read through this. I was all excited to buy Starlink for use in the Chesapeake Bay. Doesn’t sound like it would be a wise move right now. Not interested in $250/mo.

We are on the fence now as well. I pay $100 at home for high speed data so I am not against $250 if we are living 1-2 mo at a time and I can cut it off as needed.

However, not excited about $2,500 for the Maritime dish.

Just an Fyi, you don't need the maritime array. You do need the $250/month sub. That only get's you 50GB/month then down to mostly unusable. The maritime array is only needed for in motion usage.

Not sure of your usage, but I went back to cellular and have a 100GB 5G package and didn't make it this month on that usage, went over on Thursday night. No iNet through cell for another week until plan rolls over to new month. We only use it over coffee in the morning and late night tv. Stream music all day. Granted the past two weekends have been long weekends and probably would have made the full month had we not been on the boat for nine out of the past 14 days.

I only mention this because 50GB will be eaten up pretty quickly. I stream YouTubeTv/Prime video/Netflix through a FireTv.

Good to know. So if you have the residential version the unit will work on the Chesapeake Bay and Intercoastal as long as we are not moving or out in the Ocean? Most parts of our trip South we should remain in cell phone range and can stream data via hotspot.

I also thought that much of the Chesapeake Bay and inter coastal all the way to Key West are not part of the Opt In plan, so available as part of the unlimited portion of the plan.?.

    Sort of a moving target.
