I purchased a 2004 280 sundancer last year and installed a new stereo. I noticed an extra set of speaker wires and assumed they were for the optional subwoofer. Can someone help me with the original location for the optional subwoofer?

Thanks

On our 02 280 there is an extra (unused) set of speaker wires tucked up under the wetbar sink in the cockpit. I seem to recall having seen sub-woofer installs done on the wetbar wall behind the helm seat.

Awesome! I was just looking into where I was going to put the sub!

Here is where it is on my 2005 280. Picture doesn't show a whole lot, but it's right behind captains chair, under the sink.

Can you get a picture of inside the cabinet of the back of the sub? Thanks.

Sorry, but that's the only picture I have right now until spring. I will gladly take one then if you still need it. (If I get real adventerous, I could take a light and camera and crawl under the tarp, but dont count on that, lol.)

Do you remember if it is boxed in or open to the inside of the cabinet?

Donnie, FYI-There have been past discussions about this Sub on mid-2000 280DA models and it has been stated more than once that people without the sub factory installed, found the extra SUB cables tied to the main wiring harness in the aft cabin wall (port side, under the helm seat). That would save you some wiring to get back to the other side of the boat. I have never been in there to check mine. There are pictures in an old thread here somewhere but I am not sure where it may be.

Thanks Jason. I actually searched before I asked for pics of the back side. I haven't quite "mastered" the search engine for this site:smt021 I'm still on the fence about putting a sub in there as I am also looking at putting a small 12v chest freezer in there so I can take some meat on our Bahama trip. I don't live well on veggies..lol

Are those subwoofer wires installed by the factory on every 280DA? I only have a 2 channel amp in the mid-berth inside those mirrored port cabinets. Would sure like to add a subwoofer in the interim before upgrading the whole system, but I doubt I can with only the 2 channel amp. But still curious if those wires would be there?

Maybe use a small dremel with the router base attachment? You could cut a template out of some 1/4" plywood and then adhere it with double-sided carpet tape to the loation you want to cut. Plunge the router bit in and follow the template around for a perfect circle.

And as far as searching this site, use Google's advanced search here: http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en . At the bottom of the page where it says "Search within a site or domain" type 'clubsearay.com'. Then type your search criteria in the above it. Works great!
