Table Rock Lake

I have seen that C52 as well, it’s a nice boat! I’d still take an L650 over it though!

I agree....I don’t really like the “stubby “ look on the front in the C52. I do think the Azumit looks pretty good. I, obviously, have always liked the look of Sea Rays.

I am a big fan of the Azumits. Not so much Carver. i am sure they are very nice, but the lines never appealed to me.

Yeah, I remember the day that press release went out. I’d venture to guess that there was little margin there for them in the L class. Probably a lot more in the bowriders and sport cruisers so they stuck with that. Also allowed for them to cut a lot of overhead and most unfortunately, jobs.

I remember being disappointed when I heard Sea Ray was getting out of the larger boats. Interestingly, we went to the Miami boat show this past February. One day on the water taxi ride back from the boat show to our Miami drop area, we struck up a conversation with 2 guys, from Slovenia, who are boat designers/architects, and they commented (since i told them I had a Sea Ray) that it was the L Class that was the demise for Sea Ray yachts.

That is interesting. I've never been on one, but I liked the design. I know it was a significant step up in price though, which put them in a new class of competition.

I have also never set foot on one, but they are really sharp. I saw a listing for a 2018 L650 that MarineMax had listed and it was still $2.49M.

I’d love to know what the lynch pin(s) were that drove them out of the business, merely out of curiosity. I could only speculate, but with such a huge portfolio of products and like with anything else - when the price goes higher the market gets smaller. And there are a lot of great manufacturers who only play in that space so I’m sure competition was fierce.

I found out the hard way Friday that the Catfish Hole closed. Too bad, we really enjoyed the place and it was nice to have somewhere to get food and drinks within walking distance of the lake.

I had heard the same thing this weekend when we went to pick up pizza from Sharky’s on Sat. Too bad, as it was a good place to eat on the water.

There are fewer and fewer places now. State Park opened up their revamped cafe. My brother and his family went there and said that 12” pizzas were $20! He said they were nothing special either. For that kind of coin, I’ll spend it in gas and go to Sharky’s. We love their Nashville Hot Chicken pizza. Their Taco Pizza is also good, but you need to eat it on the swim platform as it’s a bit messy.

I too, have never been aboard an L class. I have seen a couple from outside at LOTO....they are very sharp looking. I stopped by MarineMax at LOTO on Friday, on my way back from Columbia, and there was an L590 in a slip at their Marina.

One of they guys on our dock tried to go to the Catfish hole last Sunday and found out they were closed when he arrived. I heard this weekend, that the guy who developed Water Mill Cove Condos on Indian Point had purchased the land and was going to put in more condos.

It also seems that there are going to be more condos or cabins near Trails End Resort right across from Harbor Lane off Indian Point Road. There has been a good bit of excavation there in the last couple of weeks. I guess people are anticipating a continued jump in visitors because of the COVID situation this year? But there are resorts on Indian Point (and in other places) that sit completely empty and closed.

We have been meaning to get to the Shady Taco but we have not made it yet. I know several people who have gone and say it’s good and worth the stop.

Has anyone gone to Still Waters and eaten at any of their restaurants?

Yes....we have been to Shady Taco several times the past couple of years. Sometimes our food has been good and other times not that good....it’s really hit and miss. There is another food truck beside Shady Taco called Melt...we have not tried it. They also have Pizza World, which we have always liked.

Tim...were you out Saturday around the Coombs Ferry entrance around noon?

Jeff, we were out Saturday but didn't get past State Park. We were up there Friday.

Despite the bad weather in the forecast, yesterday turned out to be a great day on TRL. We held off on heading to the boat until about 11AM, and in a short while the sky broke and it was a beautiful afternoon and evening. Cove’d out in Little Indian with some friends and dock neighbors. Didn’t stay on the hook with the potential for bad weather, but we did stay on the boat in our slip. Ready for next weekend already!

We still went down Friday night despite the weather forecast. It did get pretty windy Saturday morning, but there didn’t seem to be as much rain as I expected. The afternoon did turn out very nice. We never left the dock either, but still had a great weekend.

Perfect weather this weekend. Spent a few hours at the Tiki bar having lunch and a few drinks, listening to music. Headed down to the cove right before Cricket Creek marina and had it almost to ourselves. Tossed the anchor and chilled for a few more hours, just me and the admiral. This weekend is not going to be ideal. But it is supposed to warm up next week. Fingers crossed.
