The Official 450 Express Bridge Owners Club

IMO, lots of things to worry about on that boat. Cheap bridge canvas replacement and missing awning over slider. Master is missing some trim work. Most likely it was wet/rotten and was just ripped out. Same with galley cabinets. Port engine aftercooler overheat, ER hatch lift spring broken, look at the wiring on the genset batt, vaccuflush vacuum unit on master system, helm bilge switch is on or pump is running, missing helm table, etc, etc, etc. I'm betting this was a repo boat that someone put some bandaids on and is trying to sell. Again, just my opinion

Does anyone where I can get a fitted bedspread for the master SR bed shape? Or, do I have measure and custom order? yachtbedding.com is one such option.
Several people in our yacht club have used yachbedding.com and were pleased with the results. They have a showroom in San Diego.

One of the benefits of CSR is someone who is in the market for a 450 EB might decide to do a little online research. This thread with 1500+ replies and 52,000+ page views comes up on the top of the search list. There have been several posts made by people looking for one to purchase and the group is quick to respond and assist the potential buyer. I agree with you Larry about the condition of the boat. Buyer beware.

Thanks. They look very legit. Answered an email right away. They have our template measurements of the base beneath the mattress. Pricey though like $500. And shams are $89 each. Fabric designs appear pretty large selection but not as much as buying off the shelf for patterned duvets or bedspreads. We may end up with them though. King size sheets work fine tucking in but the cover has to be fitted.

The Admiral on our boat doesn't like the fitted covers. She bought all new bedding at Pottery Barn and the millions of pillows that seem to be all over the boat. I drive it, she decorates. o_O

I wonder if anyone has ever searched CSR on the topic of "decorative boat pillows"! For the record, the 20+ pillows my wife has placed everywhere look spectacular, but from a practical standpoint, I absolutely hate them! They are always in the way.
We purchased 3" foam pads for both berths (king for the master, queen for the guest), traced around each mattress with a sharpie, then cut them to size using my battery-powered filet knife. That was a game-changer in improving the comfort level of our older mattresses. We use oversized sheets to fit over everything. My wife gets a 30-minute cardio session putting the bedding (and of course, the pillows!) in place each day.

We recently replaced the Norcold fridge with a Vitrifrigo DP2600IBD3-F-1. This is a DC model, so we included a Vitrifrigo 7806-0001 power supply to make it AC/DC. It's amazing how it fits exactly into the existing space. We used black 1" auto decorative trim around the edges to cover the mounting bracket. After a couple of months, it is performing quite well.

One our success stories this summer involved the use of a dehumidifier. I run a hose to the guest berth drain, and keep it set at 60%. I leave the "Starboard Systems" breaker switch on when we are away to keep it going. The results have been amazing. No mold anywhere, no musty boat smell ever, no condensation in the AC drip pans, and the AC just seems to run much better. We fill a 1-gallon jug with one scoop of No-flex and water and pour it into each of the drains before departing. The sump stays much cleaner, longer than before. The only negative is having to move the dehumidifier every time I get into the sump area.

We have a 3" foam pad cut to shape too on master mattress which actually is quite good shape. Going to try a queen bedspread, see if not custom shape works well enough. Nautical print options are vast that way and way less expense. One way or another tired of existing fitted dark brown heavy scratchy comforter! And yes, pillows and shams are a nuisance...with ya there!

We also put the Vitrifrigo DP2600 in but going from the old 8.0 unit to the new 8.1 required a little trimming. I don't recall having to add a power supply unit, it has been just plug and play. Very happy with it. :)

I have a Danby dehumidifier that I store in the center hold near the galley sink. I usually run it for a day or two before we take the boat out, but I have always used the internal tank. I like the great idea of using the hose instead and running it to the sump box. I believe my sump box has an unused inlet. Maybe I can rig an extension (hose or pex) over to the center hold so I can run it full time.

Just curious if anyone has replaced their hydraulic steering cylinder? And knows the part #?

Mine started a slow leak about 6 months ago and we've casually added fluid and were bleeding the line. Did this twice and now there is a bad leak where the rod enters the cylinder. I've noticed on another SR thread that replacing vs rebuilding is the best move for piece of mind and I agree.

The owners manual references 3 different possibilities BA-125-7ATM, BA-135-7ATM & BA150-7ATM. Being a 2003, the sticker on the cylinder is gone and I'm not sure which one to try to find.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'll take a look this Sunday when I am on the boat again.
If you have a chance, take a picture of it also.

Hey Brian,

I have a 2002. I just crawled back and took some pictures since it’s too tight for me to see the number. It looks like BA150-7ATM.

My 2002 model steering cylinder leaked & required replacement (no rebuild advisable).

Took a hydraulic guy + helper 5 hrs because of it's very difficult access location. Copy of invoice attached here. Seastar HC5314-3 is identified. $2100 total job ($672 parts, $1300 labor, plus tax).

Damn.....watching this closely as I have the same issue. I just topped off the fluid during the summer, but now want to get it fixed. I was hoping to remove it, take it to the local hydro shop and have them rebuild it, then reinstall.

I have crawled down there before to tighten fittings, look for leaks etc. It does look like a difficult job to R&R. I'm actually going to the boat today and this is on my list. I can't see the tag on the cylinder (faces aft), so I'm not sure of the model #.

You can send them back to https://www.seatechmarineproducts.com/seastar-hydraulic-boat-outboard-steering-cylinder-rebuild.html for a rebuild. It isn't to hard to get out. One end is attached to the tie rod and the other is fixed to the stringer. Just undo those and the fluid lines. The bummer is you have to wiggle under the generator.

I have an annoying slow leak and plan to have it rebuilt in January. The above company is honest. Sent a helm pump off my son's boat and they said it couldn't be rebuilt and they didn't even charge him the inspection fee.

For some reason, I stop getting email notices so I drop off when that happens.

Some great pics from this weekend. Probably our last 85 degree day this year. Noriego Point in Destin Harbor offers a unique beach that has a steep drop off. In that image we still have about a foot below the running gear.

Onwards to Christmas parades!
