You can add watches, art, cars, boats, planes and homes to the list... I can't get my head around some of these things..... But it seems you can put it out there and someone will buy it.

Much of that is hype marketing, as is the case for the $10K Pappy. I believe retail is $300-$400 range, but since more people want it than can get it, people that don't want it now compete to get it just so they can conspicuously spend and show off, or resellers buy it to put online for $10k to see if the former will bite on it.

Great thread and being a KY boy, everyone has an open invite to visit and I will help with bourbon distillery tours. I have a couple of pappys and kind of over rated for me! Michters 10/20/25 are the mack daddy of high end brown water for me!!
Monaco- PM me and I will send you a sample of '15 20yr pappy if you wish!
Chris

It was not the Admirals budget to do the 10+ Michters but she did get a bottle of Michters to try along with a Wathens Barrel Strength, and several good heavy winter beers...

What did you get?

Thank You!!!

Amazing!!! Shared with a good friend the care package you sent me tonight. Been saving it for a special f time with a great cigar.

Best I have ever tasted. Cannot thank you enough. I so appreciate your generosity more than I can say.

So thank you again,

MM

For the money, I still like the Jack Daniels Single Barrel for sipping. Had a house full of outlaws (wife’s family) for Easter last weekend and sipped just enough of it all afternoon and night to make them barely tolerable, but not so much that I told any of them to go F themself. Nice balance! Happy wife, happy life.

I concur with this, while I have a large collection of the upper end stuff I have 4 of these in stock on the bar. One of which will be making it’s way down to the boat shortly.

Mine was among the first things I loaded on the boat after we splashed a few weeks ago. Along with all the linens and towels.
We’re primarily Gin & Tonic drinkers but for sipping nothing beats Jack Daniels for us. I learned to keep a bottle of regular Jack Daniels aboard too though after a guest requested Jack and Ginger Ale and I had to explain that there was no way in hell I was going to put Ginger Ale in Single Barrel.

This has been very helpful in identifying things to try that have profiles similar to things I have liked in the past.

I have never been a Makers Mark fan but really like the 46 that has a similar profile to Pappy.

This is an interesting chart for sure... Unfortunately, I find I gravitate towards the bottom left, which get expensive :)

Buchanan’s 18 or JW Blue are the go-to’s. Laphroig from time to time you have to be in the mood for that smoke. Talisker and Macallans you cant go wrong.

I have enjoyed reading through this thread. I even tried a few or the brands mentioned (the ones I could afford).
The kid and his wife stopped by the other evening and brought something I enjoyed. It's an Irish whiskey and a name I wasn't familiar with. It's called Tullamore Dew. It is not expensive, and man is it smooth! Very easy to drink neat. All desirable traits. Another plus is, it comes in a rectangular bottle so it will lay still on the boat when you lay it on a towel.
"Here's lookin' atcha"

I’m going to try to find some Michters and give it a try. I’ve got a case of Buffalo coming next month. Till then it’s 76 for me

Have you tried the Kentucky Bourbon trail between Lexington and Louisville KY? It includes a Buffalo stop.

I have not. Between the business and the boat I have very little time for long term play. Damn I’d love to

I know someone that did the trail in the fall on their way south for the winter. They loved it. I had told him about Blanton’s and he said that the store at Trace didn’t even have Trace, forget about Blantons. I have a Makers 46 I am about to open. Have not had it yet.

My wife used to work for UPS. Their air hub is Louisville. She was there a few times on business and UPS did some “team building” runs to Makers so I still have the bottle that she dipped in the wax. I also have a nice bat custom engraved from when they went to the Slugger factory.
She had all the fun.
