I have them on our 310 and love ‘em. I actually run them in the neutral position and with our 20hp Suzuki off the back helped keep the boat very level. They’re like $150 for the pair if I remember correctly.
Any Particular reason you chose to not run the lights of the engine start battery? I would think the Amp draw would be minor and the Alternator on the engine would easily keep the Battery charged. Nice ideas you have though. Me like.
I could have and still might... Just didn't want to risk forgetting to shut them off and killing the battery.
FYI on the Tabs- They will not work on a Highfield Classic w/ "Long shaft". The transom mounting plate widens and the configuration will not fit. After many reiterations mine went in the trash. Disappointing Tom at Highfield USA has not confirmed this w/ Todd Hurley. Would have saved me many days.
interesting you run a long shaft on a 310, doesn't the cav plate drag under the water? our 15" suzuki puts the plate right at the keel
I don't know the manuf. The dealer I bought the dinghy from installed them They are on a spring loaded damper.
Good Point. I powered my Garmin on my dinghy directly off the battery, but I used a lighted indicator type switch so that I can visually see the switch is on. That might work?. Nice project you have there.
The boat is much dryer and engine more out of the water with the higher transom. I'm glad I went that way.
