Its getting cold and my 7.6 BTD is getting a little hard to start. I'm pretty sure the glow plugs need replacement. Westerbeke part number is 36961. Being the cheap A** that I am, I'm looking to find the NSK or Bosch equivalent. Westerbeke is about $60 a plug, NSK's are likely $10-$20.

Anybody have a part number?

After looking around online, I narrowed it down to NGK Y110 (#6825) or NGK Y114T (#6528). I think the Y114T looks closest to what I have seen on my generator so I bought a set. We'll see if I'm right:)

NAPA had them for $6.99 each, and with shipping was less than $40 for the set. Ebay has them for about $7/ea + $9.35 shipping, so about $30. I went with NAPA. If these are correct, you can pick up at a local store next day.

I pulled one of the glow plugs today. Its a Champion CH152 specification stamped in shows 10.5 V. The NGK's are supposedly 12V. Maybe last a little longer?? 10.5V seems kinda low. It is definitely not heating.

Regardless, this would be an option if you can find local.

Here are the NGK Y114T glow plugs. A little different but from the threads Down maybe 1/8” longer. I’ll install tomorrow and see how they work.

I tested them and they do glow hot! Should be an improvement.

Watching this for mine, it's likely time to replace them. Thanks for putting this together.

I’ll add some red paint...way under $25:)

They are actually about an 1/8" shorter, be sure you get enough thread engagement before it bottoms out. The tapered shoulder is where they seal in the head.

that should be a Mitsubishi K3B or K3D engine, and that should be the right NGK crossover

I can report that the NGK Y114T is not the best choice. I could only get about 3 threads of engagement with the block, which I think is a few too few.

The Champion CH152 had about 7 threads of engagement.

I tested the originals and verified they are heating, so I put them back in for now

I ordered a NGK Y110 from Amazon for $12. I'll post up pictures and see if that's a better match. The other option that is readily available is Amazon. There are a few other options to try beyond this one.

I would replace the Champion CH152, but it seems its a European version not readily available here in the US.

The new one looks a little to long, is that not an issue ?

Yes. The issue is the the area between the bottom thread and the tip is too long (as pointed out by Hughespat57 above), prevents decent number of threads to engaged. The current CH152 had about 7 threads of engagement. The Y114T got about 3. If I could get 5, I think that would be OK.

It sucks that photos of parts are often just a "representative" stock photo rather then of the actual part number...

I looked at several cross reference sites to get in the ballpark, but yeah..its a little hard to identify online.

I'm just going to have to try a few and line them up next to each other. Luckily these are returnable.
