Mistercomputerman, thanks for the video! I’m afraid I’m one of the knuckleheads that would have applied it to the metal.... Now I know!

Matt
I would have smeared it all over the top of the plug. Probably thinking more would be better. Now I know!

GREAT write up Alex! I have to tackle this before our 100 mile trip to Block Island. Did you do wires also?
Again Alex, I was a little set back by it but I'm all in after your post. Really thanks a lot. Does anyone know what the wire set part number would be? After market of course.
Thanks Jimmy,

I'm ordering two sets Monday.. They are the cheapest anywhere on the net. How's the quality?
So did you get your plugs changed?

Crap - I thought dialectric grease WAS a conductor - oops! Knucklehead? Guilty as charged!!

I just did this 2 weekend ago and it transformed my boat. My starboard engine was running rougher than my port but once the new ones were in it fixed everything.

BTW, good write-up. It's great having these type of resources documented on this site.
I recently got a fault 59=Fuel injector malfunction on my mercury 8.1 horizons with only 315 hours, the boat is a 2010 sea ray sundancer 370 that i just purchased 2 months ago. So since this boat was stored for a season or more without use (ethonal and treatment in fuel=bad gas) I decided to take out the injectors and clean them. Also noted right before i took these out i ran the cocktail mix of fuel through the engine and the right side of the engine manifold and the exhaust itself got so hot i couldnt even touch it. anyway i took out all 8 of the injectors and cleaned them by hooking up to a 9v battery and spraying carb choke cleaner through them. They all worked fine and didnt seem that dirty... Could my problem be a spark plug, coil or wires or at least my next area to focus on. I did read something that a cylinder not getting spark could give lean running conditions as well. I just wonder if the computer would give the same fault...
