I have been reading forums and seeing utube videos on 5.0 mercruisers with Gen III cool fuel de-lamination problems. It seems that Sea Ray painted the insides of the of the Gen III fuel cool cell with paint. Now there seems to be paint delamination on some boats that is deteriorating parts that are upstream of the fuel cell such as low and high pressure pumps, fuel injectors etc. I've heard that the recommendations are to replace the Gen III cool fuel cells at approximately $1,000 a piece. This problem was apparently fixed on 2009 boats.
Does anyone having any ideas if this is a valid problem? And if so what is a part number for the Gen III cool fuel cell.
Thanks in advance.
Ralph
