I have always wondered if there is a ‘fudge factor’ in these numbers.
My boat has a hydraulic swim platform so it has extra weight at the stern. I wouldn’t expect to see these numbers as they are also reliant on the growth on the bottom, trimming, what is mounted to the platform etc.

I’m currently getting my tabs enlarged and installing a second trim tab actuator so I can get my bow down a little further at low speeds (I enlarged the tabs but with the single ram the water pressure kept retracing them).
What about the 3% difference in the density of salt water and fresh water? :)

I think the “fudge factor” is the charts from seaboard are for the 450 diamond series. They recommend those numbers for the qsc 500. There is so much information about this topic it’s hard to know who is right.

I think we also have far too much info at our fingertips. It wasn’t that long ago that we just had Revs, Temps and Pressures. Life was simple, as long as they were all in the ‘green’ we were good to go ...

On another note, has anyone replaced or upgraded the back light on the switch panel at the helm. The light strip with the foil wasn’t attached to the back of the panel.

As my eyesight got worse my switch legends and lightning got more pronounced...

Where did you find those switches?
Just sourced them from an off-road 4WD vehicle specialist. They customize them to your needs. I just sent them a photo of my old panel. Autopilot and Radar switches were done after this pic was taken.

There aren't many areas of this boat you haven't touched...

Pretty much... $200k spent...
In the attached pictures are two of my most OTT purchases.. Yacht Controller (for a happier marriage) and Infrared touch-less Fawcett's (for water conservation).

Be interested to know if others have purchased helpful or OTT gizmo’s that I need to know about :)

I don't have a ton of temperatures recorded. At wide open, engine temps are usually in the high 170s and manifold around 80. Here are some gauge readouts, in case anyone sees anything suspicious!

As for suspicious... what is the sea water temp you are running in. I ask because your temps are near what mine were before I had my entire cooling system serviced. My impellers were both near shot with torn/sliced veins. Now my temps run Port 168-69 and Star 174-75 Down about 5 on both sides with sea water at 55 degrees.

This was in June...the water temperature would have been in the low-60s. Funny you should bring this up...right now both aftercooler, the heat exchangers, and the transmission coolers are off the boat being cleaned and serviced.

Impellers are good, I replace them regularly.

Good info, thank you...anything that suggests it's good money spent is helpful!

Hey RBB, I think I have posted this somewhere before, but for easy reference here are the upper end of some numbers I have recorded in the past:

No current or wind, speed in MPH.

Here's a complete chart:

I'm not sure what my props are...
I found what appears to be the sweet spot for cruising on mine is 2260-2280 rpm will run between 24-25.3 mph and the fuel burn was nearly same as 2200rpm

Ok, here's some fun! In about 4 years or so (gotta get the kids out of high school!), when September comes we plan to head south to the Bahamas instead of packing-up the boat. We could do it with the 44DB. I have seen some videos from a couple doing the loop in one. Maybe we would change to something different, although I don't know what...I really love the 44DB!

If we take the 44DB, I have a wish list of upgrades (and some that are not coupled to the journey as well). Here is the list so far...I am sure others have some great ideas and input:

Helm
- better, more ergonomic captain and navigator seating
- replace all the factory-original electronics (chartplotters, autopilot, radar, VHF)
- add AIS, N2K bus
- replace SC5000
- complete the installation of the Pepwave cellular router and related networking
- install some ventilation for rainy days (fans?)

Galley
- upgrade the convection microwave with a better, modern unit
- upgrade the cooktop to induction
- replace the aging fridge
- trash compactor maybe...where would it go?
- I am pondering a garburator for the galley sink...good idea, environmentally horrible?

Utility
- install a water maker
- add solar panels and upgrade the battery and charging system
- add a main inverter to replace point of use inverters
- add a raw water washdown (more for freshwater use)

Entertainment
- complete the upgrade of the Fusion audio system to 4 discrete zones
- maybe modernize the satellite TV system

Other
- add a Freedom Lift (will get a different dinghy)
- add shelving in the engine room to increase storage
- add cameras in the engine room
- figure out a convenient, safe way to store some gasoline jerry cans

This is somewhat off the top of my head this morning. Maybe I should just get a new boat!!
Added another to the list:
- Add a new 120V outlet in the galley (that isn't in a cupboard!)

All money spent on preventive maintenance is money well spent.

I agree.

When I bought the boat in the fall of 2017, it had only a little over 300 hours on it. I could tell none of the heat exchanger cores had ever been looked at...bolts all still had the original paint, so that was a risk I got a price reduction for. Temps were all ok so it didn't seem anything was terrible.

Had to replace a gasket late last summer so got a glimpse:

Some corrosion, which was why the gasket was leaking, and a ridge where the water typically stays, but pretty clean otherwise.

Hopefully no major surprises!

For sure...I have seen the same. Fuel economy drops pretty steeply then pretty much flattens out around 1800RPM. There is a little bump between 2100 and 2400RPM though.

It's amazing that in theory if you poked along at 600RPM / ~6MPH, your range would be almost 1900 miles! Wouldn't take much current to slow you down though!
