420/44 DB Owners Club

Nice , have to show us when finished. What will the configuration be ? 12” gps 9” radar 7” camera ?
i think u will be able to move any thing anywhere u want. Maybe try radar and camera on the 12" split. Plotter on the 9" and engine info on the 7" .
I have everthing except the open array radar. Been waiting on it for approx 2 1/2 months.
This is a bigger job than I thought.

During a short haul I noticed that the starboard trim tab zinc had no wastage . Took a look in the bilge and couldn’t see how this was bonded. Any ideas?

very nice. I’m doing something similar so thought I’d share. The camera next to the FLIR is the Raymarine Augmented Reality.

And yours too. Just wished I had’ve got those new Axiom+ displays.
My installer is hoping to have the majority of it working today. I don't think he will get there. We'll see.

Looking forward to those final pictures ..

Have been considering painting my radar black. I think you just convinced me. But would also wanted to paint the OTA tv antenna as well.

I think the black looks terrific. But would worry about cooking the electrical components in what would become a solar oven.

It was a concern for me too but there are so many new boats being built with black radars and satellite TV domes that I thought why not give it a try.

Does anyone have the part # for the onan/kubota generator impeller. Have everything else getting ready for service this fall.
thanks

thank you sir

Any of you go from a similar sized SunDancer and regret the move? Looked at a 44DB and its incredible, but would we miss the "back yard" of the DA? We do a lot of anchoring with friends and most of that time is spent in the back of the boat, often with 10+ people hanging out back there as the kids swim. I know thats not possible with the DB but the rest of the boat is just perfect, incredible layout, more sleeping areas and the bridge. Always loved bridge boats.

All of that said, the 50/52DA looks interesting.....

We never looked back when we moved from Rinker 350 to the 44DB. We have no kids but often entertained 8 to 10 adults and found the cockpit along with the bridge seating ample. We really enjoyed not retreating to the dungeon to enjoy the salon/galley area, with the 44DB, having the cockpit and salon on the same level with the glass slider the boat entertaining area just flows so well. That said, if a 50 or 52 fits your budget and marina situation I would take the long pull and go big instead of suffering 6 footitis and suffering the transitional costs and drama in two years.

I think those 3/4 steps down into the dungeon is the only downside to the DA.

Prices for the DB are steep, the 42 are mid to upper 200s and the 44s are mid 300s with several asking 399.

8-10 People in the cockpit of a 42/44DB is definitely tight. I think 6 adults using the stairs as seating is max in terms of comfort (with cockpit table). That being said we absolutely love the layout. If you can swing it, the newer 52 DB offers ample cockpit space. I think the 08+ has lots more cockpit space than the previous models as they pushed it out a couple feet. But you are probably north of 500k at that point.

That is the exact reason we moved from a 44DB to a DA. Being on an inland lake, we spend a lot of time at the dock. Having the cockpit area vs the bridge is the difference. The admiral longed for the cockpit space so we made a change. All good so far, but I do miss the sliding doors and windows of the salon.

I just bought my 44DB and will never go back to a DA I couldn't take being down stairs any longer felt to closed in. We also made the move so are dogs are more comfortable they need to be in the air and they can see us out the door
