Tropical Storm Ian Prediction as of 0200 EDT.

Did Fla. allow the developers to build on those barrier islands? If they did, it’s not going to be there soon.

They will not be looking like they do or did by this time tomorrow. Stay save!

Flooded? The webcams make it look like a non-event for Key West. The sport fish guy didn't even remove is sun shade...and it survived.

The bars should be opened in time for @Blueone to get his bloody mary...:)
That sun shade is actually a framed canvas….. it was pretty much a non event…. Rain and wind. When you see a reporter standing in a puddle they have to go find that puddle .. high tide was at 11:30 last night so for sure there was some flooding.

here is the boat on the camera

Just noticed a sail boat is up on wisteria island (bone yard) across from the condo. He is pretty high up as well.

Blue, morning news say KW all flooded. What does our ‘Jim Cantore’ say?
Jim cantore is getting a little old…. I’m sure his iPad is just a prop .. no way it still works standing out in the rain for two days now. He just said he is “sick” of all these category 5 hurricanes….. I had to change the channel

We have a house rented in Cape Coral on a canal 10 houses from the river for the first half of February. Selfish first world problems, but a bit concerned about the predicted storm surge.

So many variables. Probably sometime next week or longer before anyone would know. One of the other complicating factors, some of those neighborhoods the streets will be filled with trees (and some roof parts). The streets have to be cleared before anyone will be able to get in there.

Everything I have seen regarding the weather, this is an extreme hurricane.

Jim Cantore is in Punta Gorda right now. According to internet lore this means that's where the eye will hit so Cape Coral is hosed, it'll be right on the eye wall :)

My friend RJ, who lives in Key West on a canal near the airport, had his yard, deck and pool flooded. Only got 1 inch of water in the pantry (Side entryway hall also) but no water in the house.

Getting a little more concerned now that it is projected to cross over and head my way. Hopefully just a TS unless it picks back up in the atlantic and fires back inland. I will be making the trip in the next day or two...

Nothing will ever beat the Weather Channel's Mike Seidel's work though...:D

Jim is about 1 mile from my newly acquired 5th wheel on the water in the top of Charlotte Harbor in Punta Gorda. Bye bye. The Portofino is in the Landings marina on the River in Ft. Meyers. Bye bye boat. Beach House is on the mud in Bradenton with no water under it. Will survive.
Biden took care of the first half of my portfolio, and Ian is cleaning up the rest........

Pardon the pun but that blows.

We own a house in Pinellas Park, between Clearwater and St Petersburg.
About 7 miles from the Gulf but closer to Tampa Bay.
Hopefully no damage.
Our friends, also Canadians, have a house on a canal in Port Charlotte.
They may not be so lucky. (They don’t have flood insurance, too expensive)
It sure is concerning watching the storm on CNN and Web Cams.
For us, it is only a house which is insured.
We are safe here in Barrie Ont, not there.
Wishing all our American Friends best of luck and stay safe.
