i want to redo all the interor cushions and on deck cushions. i was looking for pictures of your interiors to get some ideas
thanks

Im mounting two pedestal helm chairs in place of the front bench cushion
Under the helm chairs will be small storage for two fenders.12"D x 48"L X 9"H Behind that will be a insulated fish hold 18"D x 48"L x 9"H The pedestal seats will rotate 360 degrees and be on sliders 6" movement. Nice to hang out comfortably facing the stern of the boat.
Still waiting on more seat parts before I start the project.

Ive never touched my interior other then teak oil.
All my efforts have been.... Trying to turn it into something its not. A Fishing Boat.

Shooting for 250 mile range. Heading straight out 100 miles offshore
Beefing up the hull as I go.

I should just paint everything with awlgrip.
Then use the pressure washer inside and out for easy clean up

Looking at the interior of your 26, it appears to be the same as my 268.

Here are some things we did to our '89 340.

There are lots of things you can do yourself. My wife and I designed, made and installed all of the interior upholstery ourselves.

Have fun.

thanks for the ideas guys. your cabins look great! how hard is it to replace the ceiling carpet. i have the ugly peach color or do u think i could bleach it somehow And do you think i can cut out the wall between the galley and the foward bedroom so it looks like tail chasers or is that part structural?

We have no pics of your boat?
Im sure the wall your wanting to remove helps support your upper decking on the bow.
But anything is doable.

Where my bow curtain hangs. There's also a support beam. 1" x4" that runs port to starboard.
Being 6' 6" tall. Ive knocked myself silly on it a few times.
Running to, and Climbing on the V berth. Getting to the forward anchor hatch before I drift to far.

If it wasn't for that. I probably never would have noticed its there.
Now I have nightmares about it
Gives me a stiff neck even thinking about it :smt013

O'Yea......
The headliner is only spray glued on.
3M has a very HD spay glue. Not sure the p/n of it.
The headliner carpet is fairly lite stuff.
I pulled out about 5' of headliner. So I could get to my horn wires.
Re installed horn up on the arch.
At one time, Thought I wanted a 8' dingy on the bow :smt021

I guess your trying to make your boat more roomy below deck?

Thats really clean, and nicely done.
I would worry about getting it dirty.

Looks nice NorCal - but you started with a newer/nicer boat, not fair!!

Silver - the biggest things you can do are replace the floor, headliner, and upholstery (cusions, ect.) The floor and headliner you can do yourself, but they are a lot of work. I did mine and it took quite a while, but not too much dough.

sorry here is a pic

Does give you that closed in feeling.
Home Depot has resin 35.00 Gal and fiberglass is fairly cheap.
You could knock that wall out.
Maybe leave the top 4" to 6" for support.
Maybe glass it in like a stringer.
You will be removing some top heavy wgt also.

When you think of new 26' boats going for 80k or more.
Helps the motivation

NorCal - your interior is beautiful!!! Can you tell me where you purchased the upgraded light fixtures? Love the work you did on the upholstery (wish I had the talent to do work that nice).

Silver, that interior doesn't look that bad, you keep it nice and clean. You may want to think about painting some of that wood panneling to brighten/update the cabin. That's cheap and makes a BIG difference

Maybe some upholstery too. I was too cheap to replace the upholstery on the bed, so I just keep it made up with some nice bedding and pillows.

Silver0306,

Here's my opinion (and we all know what free opinions are worth). You have a classic wooden yacht interior. You also have a real v-berth cabin with real privacy. You have a 1 bedroom condo now, turning it into an efficiency would be a real step back.

Do the upholstery in some clean bright color. I couldn't see the headliner too well from the photo, but if you can brighten that up great. Give the woodwork a good wash down with something like Murphies Oil Soap followed by a light coat of teak oil.

After reading your original post again.
Sounds more like a cosmetic upgrade is what you were looking for.

Removing a wall only gives the appearance of a more roomy boat.
But in reality,
How much space is really saved?
The thickness of the wall you are removing.
That's a lot of work for nothing really gained.

I'm curious if anyone has used Sikkens Cetol marine wood finish on there interiors?
They have a natural teak color.
I used the marine light. I like it a lot.
There other colors have a lot of orange tint in there pigments from what ive read.

I did a couple of exterior boards.
The marine light looks great. Like a polyurethane coated wood floor.

Silver,

You have gotten some good advice here and I will offer a bit more.

Our boat has a lot of pinkish hard surfaces and rather than trying to replace those surfaces which could be costly we chose to re-upholster with newer, more updated fabrics for a fresher look.

If I remember, most of the wood panels in those boats were not real wood but rather a plastic laminate like Formica. You could look onto covering them with a wall covering of some sort but I would keep the wood trim and molding as they are. That could brighten and update as well. But changing the cushion fabric will make a huge difference.

Thanks guys. Today was our first day in the boat. After being in it we are going to keep the wall but would like replace the cushions with updated fabric and maybe try and replace the headliner and maybe the carpet. but most of this will be a winter project(cushions need replaced now). First i have to learn how to dock the dam thing(have some fiberglass repairs to do now) How about up top. lookin gfor a nice canvas color. thinking about a medium blue with a white cushions and blue piping. anbody got any pics of your deck seats

Silver,

I will chime in again. I re-covered my cockpit seats but with original Sea Ray seat skins so it all looks brand new. I kind of like going with the original look there.

As for your canvas, some of the earlier Sea Rays had hull colors that were an off white, almost a cream color. If your boat does not have Artic White I would not go with blues. I had an '87 Sorrento that had the cream hull and the canvas was brown and looked really good. You could also do tans or black canvas. If your hull is white, IMO navy is a better choice (sorry Henry) and a bit more up to date but it is a matter of choice.
