240 DA V-Berth Issue

I am still learning my way around my 2006 240 Sundancer, purchased last month and launched April 1st. Slept on the boat for the first time last weekend and had trouble getting the tabletop to stay in place under the V-berth.

So, the tabletop is used to support the center v-berth cushion. When putting the tabletop in place, it seems to hit the galley, but I eventually get it to sit on the mounts; however, any pressure on the left side (galley side) makes the tabletop fall to the floor. This was a very frustrating experience.

Am I doing something wrong? Nothing appears to be broken on the the tabletop or mounts. Is there a trick to setting the top so it supports weight?

I would really appreciate any insights from those familiar with this setup.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I put Velcro along the edges and on the white support piece that goes across the long side, this keeps the table top from falling out. The cushion still moves around so I think I’ll use a pad made for holding wood when sanding.

Upgraded from a 19ft bowrider to a 2006 240 Sundancer and so far (1 week), couldn't be happier and awaiting warm weather. There is a 2002 240 in the slip next to me and I noticed there appears to be a bit less freeboard on the 2006. Does anyone know why/when they change the design?

We never use our galley table and sleep on out boat every weekend. I experienced the same problem so I said "screw it" and sheet rock screwed it in place. I put 2 screws on each side into the plastic molding and have never had it fall again.

I am currently troubleshooting a leak in the bow that pools around the shower/AC drain sump below the step. One suggestion was to look at the fresh water tank and/or connections. Can someone tell me the best way to access the tank? I assume you need to dismantle the interior bow area?

Hi, we just got a 240 DA and can't locate the stern Nav/Anchor light. Wondering what the best height is for this since they are sold anywhere from 36"-52" ?

It's not on the wall of the mid-cabin?

I looked in the transom locker, in the engine compartment.... I never thought to look in the Mid Cabin. I'll get my kids to crawl in and check it out. If it's not there what height is good?

I was also wondering if I got a gps/fishfinder can it use the same transducer that the smart craft is using for depth?

I used to own an '06 and if I remember correctly it was clipped to the underneath side of the engine hatch.

Mine's on the back wall of the mid cabin, I'd say it's about 5-6'

You should have a flat "plastic" bar that goes accross from left to right that fits into the slots which will support the table top

Thanks, I looked mid cabin and saw the brackets but no 934083 75" Stern Light, so I guess I will order. I had another question, my VacuFlush head worked a couple times last weekend. Now it is just filling with water and not flushing. When I look in the engine compartment it doesn't look like the tank is full? The boat has a macerator on it too, so there is a switch with a key next to the head, which I'm assuming can be off since I'm not out at Sea. Any Ideas?

You still need the key to the on position to flush and turn the Vacuflush pump on. You won't use the Macerator (discharge) in most US waters, especially where you are.

Thank's, I'll try that. I had another question, when I'm connected to shore power the Microwave, Fridge, Outlets work, and I turn on the AC Converter, but the Lights don't work unless I have the battery switch on something other than off. Is that the way it works? Is the AC Converter just charging the batteries, and if I need to have any DC system running then I need the battery switch on?

Anything that you want to operate that needs 12VDC requires the battery switch to be on. I usually use #2 for when we're docked or on the hook. I save #1 for starting. When on shorepower you turn the 'converter' (battery charger) on so that it keeps the batteries topped off and will allow you to run the 12VDC items without worry of drawing them down.

Thank's alot! So one more question, the Clarion Radio does not power up when on Shore Power with the Battery Switch on. Do I need to have the key in the ignition to Acc. for that?

The circuit panel should have a 12VDC switch for the radio. Make sure that's on then on the face of the radio there should be a power button.

This is my first post to this forum!

My wife and I purchased a 2003 240 with 200 hours recently.
It contains a gps plotter, full galley minus the microwave, shore power, remote spotlight full mooring and eisenglass enclosures and is in really good shape. It does have a couple little dings and scrapes like any boat of its age.
We took it ou last friday for the 1st time and REALLY enjoyed ourselves.
I have combed this forum for any type of instruction booklet
on the 5.0 mpi mercruiser that is in the boat. Does anyone have one ?
We paid approx 30K for the boat and I thought it was a pretty good deal......any thoughts?

Just one mre thing! Is there any maintenance I should do immediately? I had a mechanic check the boat prior to purchase and he said ts basically new and was used only in fresh water. He did say tht the aluminum Anodes shoud be changed but I will take care of that.

Sorry for all the questions.....

Upgrade 240DA to Vacuflush Question

I have decided to upgrade my 240DA to a vacuflush system. Could someone lucky enough to have a factory installed vacuflush system in a 240DA give me a description with model number(s) for each component? I am trying to figure out which Vacuflush system will fit in my boat. The local MarineMax wants $4000 to convert my 2 1/2 gallon porta-potty (with pumpout) to a Vacuflush system. I figure I can buy the components myself much cheaper. But I am not sure what Toilet, Tank, Control Panel, etc will fit.
