Because the boat is 150 miles away from me and I go to the garage to work on them and it's only open for 8 hours s day ....... But I only was able to do one TV today , there's always issues with a boat !!!

Oh you are indoor storing and now, i've got it. I was to the boat twice today... second time i forgot to turn back off the 12 volt systems in the salon... I had been there scoping where to place the inverter and controls...

In process of installing Freedom 3024 inverter right now. Placed unit under Port stateroom bed closest to the engine bulkhead. Utilizing bow thruster bank. AC wire runs going up to salon through the starboard stateroom electrical chase. Pops up behind the freezer. Had to take out the galler bar to access and continue the run to the distribution panel. Xantrex Control panel is mounted in the entertainment center side panel.

This is a project I am very interested in doing. Could you share more details, pics, etc. Are you concerned about heat buildup under the bed? I was considering mounting it to the forward engine room bulkhead, right by the batteries.

I am concerned with heat. I removed the panel that is mounted under the bed and in front of the bulkhead. The under bed now has air flow to the bilge area midship. I am hoping the fans on the unit will pull this air in. I also removed the dryer duct hose as I have removed the wash/dryer for the great storage space it provides. The removal of the duct work again opens up the under bed area to that midship bilge.

I decided to go with the 3012 with a dedicated set of batteries.. Thinking of installing the Inverter behind the waste tank with the batteries on a shelf on the portside to try and balance some of the list. I'm only in Chester. Are you doing the AGS?

Decided not to do AGS. Not interested in having my gen start up in the middle of the night. I know you can set parameters, butstill not interested. Mostly need it for fridge and freezer and some TV time for kids.

That's the reason I am installing it too(Refig, Freezer, and Ice Makers). I just didn't want to really mess with any of the existing systems. I need to figure out which gen type we have for the Westerbeke. I'll be installing mine probably weekend after next. Planning to uncover later this month and we have the guys coming to wash/wax and prep for launch.

This is an interesting topic. Curious, don't you guys run the AC at night?

We do, when it's humid or hot out. It's more for us to be able to not have to run when rafted up with everyone or when we are just trying to be quiet in the morning/evening to listen to the sounds... It's more about options than anything else.

Makes sense Dc...... Any info you could pass along regarding estimated running time for the refrig, freezer and ice maker would be great.....thanks!

I'm putting the AGS in also so that when we are anchored out and enjoying beverages or are in town, i wont need to worry how long we are gone and if the batteries are running down. I'll let everyone know what Xantrex/Westerbeke say regarding the generator type. I contacted Westerbeke today and they sent me the wiring specs and forwarded to Xantrex for the AGS install type. I'll post here if others are interested.

Anyone know the width of the boot stripe? I thought i wrote it down, but cant find where... old age is setting in. I thought it was 3.5 or 4".

I think that AGS is a great option to have. BTW, what's the cost for AGS module? I'll be curious to hear more details about your project, cost, time invested and what's your ROI (usual time you can go on without firing genset).

This is what was on mine when I measured it back in 2010.

I replaced it with black and silver. I don't recall the width of what I replaced it with, but it was similar. I also had them move the bottom paint line up a bit.

DC, That's what I measured. 3 1/2-black, 3/4-gold and 5" overall. Didn't have my vernier calipers with me though. LOL. I will be back again tomorrow if you need anything else.

Hi Greg
I was looking at the profile pic of your boat and was wondering if your dinghy is a yachtline. If it is ,does the wieght of it have much effect on the performance of the boat.
I just bought a 48 DB that came with a light 10.5' alunimum hall tender, but still have the yachtline tender from my previous boat.I am trying to decide if I should replace the alunimum hall tender with the the yachtline tender, but worried it might be a bit heavy. I would appreciate yours or anyone's else's thoughts on this subject

My dinghy is a Caribe DL-11 or DL-12 (I always forget) I can check tonight. It has a 40 HP Yamaha on it.

It is a pretty heavy dinghy, the lift has no problem lifting it, but underway I do have to run near full tabs.

I wanted something that was quick and stable enough to be able to pull the kids on a tube. I am pretty happy with it.

Quick question to the Cat owners....Do you use the oil exchange system in reverse to fill the oil on those Cats? I thought I once read that they were to be filled via the cap on the valve cover, but that looks impossible. Thanks for your responses.
