I found a SeaLand SaniPottie 965MSD from Defender. I think this is a direct drop in replacement for the pottie currently in my boat. My question is... are the MSD connectors universal?

Yep that's the one. I got mine from a local RV dealer with a large parts dept... RVs must use the same ones too. I do believe all of the connections are universal/same size. I've had four now (the two smaller ones and then the two larger ones that I replaced them with) and they were all the same.

Great. I'll start calling around to see if I can find a local dealer that has one of these. I don't guess I have to add anything else to the system other than connecting the hoses that are already in place do I? From what I've read its just a plug and play system.

I upgraded mine to a 5 gallon. What I did was purchased the base only. If your current unit is a Sani-Potti you should be able to swap out the base with the pump out option.

Even better. Thanks OllieC

Hi there guys. I have just purchased a 2000 searay sundancer 240 and I am extremely excited to get to know this boat.

I had a few questions though I was hoping to get some help with;

1) If I do not here the warning buzzer when I turn the key on, where do I start to trouble shoot?
2) Do I need to have the key turned to the first position to be able to turn on the stereo? I can't get it to turn on unless the key is turned to, I guess accessory...
3) My fridge works on AC power however when switched to 12v I don't here the compressor turning on...any ideas?
4) Will attaching the dock side water to the back of the boat fill up the water tank, if the tank is 1/2 full or do I need to put the water into the side, water fill?
5) whats the best way to find out witch battery is connected to Switch #1 and #2?

6)Its not a huge deal, however I noticed that the little led for my bulge pump on/off, on the control panel buttons, does not light up. Is there a way to fix this or would you have to buy an entire new control (the control has the blower, water, lights etc.)

I think that its for now, loving the boat so far and hoping to take it out next week for our first overnight.

Thanks for your help!

Juno,

First of all, congratulations on the new boat! My wife and I have had our 240 for almost a year now and really enjoy overnighting on it. You'll find that the 240 is a great boat. It is small enough to trailer and launch just about anywhere, yet we still feel comfortable with taking extended (4 days so far) trips on it.

I'll try to answer your questions as best I can, hopefully someone will come along and confirm or correct me.

1) If I do not here the warning buzzer when I turn the key on, where do I start to trouble shoot?

I would start by looking for the buzzer to see if it is disconnected. It should be inside the helm and looks like a little round speaker. On my boat it is tie-wrapped to a wiring harness.

2) Do I need to have the key turned to the first position to be able to turn on the stereo? I can't get it to turn on unless the key is turned to, I guess accessory...

You should not have to, sounds like someone has changed the wiring around a bit on you. The original wiring diagrams should be available on Searay's website, that may be your best starting point.

3) My fridge works on AC power however when switched to 12v I don't here the compressor turning on...any ideas?

I would start by pulling the fridge and testing the 12v circuit. Based on your issues with the stereo, I wouldn't be surprised if that circuit has been messed with as well.

4) Will attaching the dock side water to the back of the boat fill up the water tank, if the tank is 1/2 full or do I need to put the water into the side, water fill?

Nope, the dock side water connection completely bypasses your tank.

5) whats the best way to find out witch battery is connected to Switch #1 and #2?

For lack of a better idea, I would use a multimeter and check the AMPs being drawn across the battery. I am assuming that this should make which battery is active obvious, especially if you use something like the microwave that should draw a large number of AMPs. I'm actually hoping that someone comes along with a better answer to this, I'd be interesting in hearing this as well.

The wiring diagram from Searay's website should help with this as well, very likely that a connection has come loose.

Hi David, thank you for your reply. I will check out the sea ray website for the wire diagrams and go from there.

I was able to figure out the batteries and switch by disconnecting the ground on the 1 battery and seeing which one was still working on the switch. This told me which one was hooked up to which number.

I appreciate your help with my other questions.

Cheers!

I'm getting accustomed to my, new to me, used 2008 240DA. I'm struggling with the Bimini camper canvas. My initial question is, is there a difference between a Bimini cover and a Bimini camper? I can't seem to figure out a way to just have the cover set up without adding the rest of the camper parts. I'm sure there will be more questions, I've only been out on it twice this season so far, just getting used to it.

I would check the kill switch, first. Unless the boat still starts without beeping.

The bimini cover itself is only the canvas that goes over your head and is fixed to the poles.

Thanks, I looked at the pdf and my front cover section does not have the straps that attach to the windshield and secure the front of the cover. That is why I thought there were two different options. I am going to print off the diagram and I'll take some picts when I go up to it this weekend.

thanks

It's strange that is wouldn't have the straps. You need to have the straps there whether or not you are using the full camper enclosure.

without these straps you will not be able to setup the top cover alone as a sun protection since it will flip backwards . the straps stretch the top cover against the stillage.

Thanks importmonkey. The boat starts with no issues, the kill switch is in run position, however no alarm or beeping.

I may have to replace the buzzer, however getting at in is going to be a chore. I think that I located it high up in the dash area from the access panel. I think I have to remove one of the gauge clusters though to get access to it.
