Looks it should calm back down for you to have nice cross over. Please grace us with a post trip report to get the rest of us amped up. I am planning for end of July/ early August. I see they just opened Man-O-War Village Marina so that might be a stop for me. And hopefully add a Bimini run in...
Ugh.. exactly what I was not wanting to hear. I went that route when installing aft speakers. The rest the NMEA backbone is run up through the arch so I was hoping to stay up top. I'll get some flashlights shining with a helper next week and see what I can find. Thanks guys.
For those that have had success in running a cable from the helm back to the electrical cabinet, any insight here?
Pull the overhead (long oval) salon light fixture down and shoot across the top and down behind the power panel?
I currently have the dash ripped apart due the old chart-plotter...
I know there is an antenna on the arch , just not sure what model. I am guessing it is same era as the 5212 so no idea if this will match up with the new MFD. Looking at the 1023's manual I see there is a compass safe distance listed of 25", which is in conflict with my compass location at the...
Thank you. So the 2 MFDs and the VHF can have drop cables into 3 T's linked together.
Add a 4th T to run back the head unit.
Trying to draw it all up and then place an order for parts. Are there any issues using non-garmin NMEA components? Are some better than others?
@Skybolt "1242xsv, that has the card reader in the front, lower right." Thanks for pointing that as I didn't catch when doing the model comparison. That solves one thing!
And thanks @bobeast and @Jaybeaux for the tips. Been watching a few vids on NMEA setups so have a better understanding of...
Jumping in here as my 5212 is no longer functional. The power button started 'sticking' a while back, then I tried using a pick on it last time out and it collapsed inside. So.. the inevitable is here.
I ordered 2 new garmins on the West Marine clearance sale this week. the 1242xvs and 1042...
Well, had no intention of going but a family member just handed me passes tonight while we were at dinner so guess I will make a run though.
Planning on parking at west marine and talking the free ride after hearing of parking...ridiculous!
Any one else there tomorrow?
I have 1 extra 3 days...
@highslice Yes, hurricane season. Lots of places close from mid/ late august until Nov., or random times within that period. Makes it interesting if you are looking for an open restaurant. The plus side is feels like you have the island to yourself.
@ocgrant yes, both were amazing. Seas...
What a cool place and different from the other smaller out islands. No doubt it will be a great trip. All 3 marinas on HI were closed for season (aerial view) so we didn't get over there. Spanish Wells beach was probably the most beautiful I have ever walked on. Lots of cool scenery and...
I tackled that job last summer. Little bit of mess of a mess but not too bad. Bring your shop vac for whatever you can't get into a bucket. Might as well clean/descale the whole HEX since you are that far.

Flounder Pounder. You'll have to take a caliper measurement to order the right size. I have not done this job myself so I don't know much more about how to go about removal. Let us know how!
