Kenyon Kiss Butane stove in 260da

OMG! I just bought a 2001 245 Weekender with this same stove. 2 days ago I boiled a kettle of water for tea without any issue. Well, tonight I thought I’d boil another pot while I was working. Heard a loud “poof” under in the cabinet and saw the flash. The flames came up from the stove and...

    Help Deciphering Oil Sample Results

Anything catastrophic is basically what I was looking for on the oil results. On the sea trial, the boat ran like a dream. The surveyor tested temps after being at different RPM levels and WOT. Readings were great. Oil pressure and voltages steady. Not mechanically related, but it has a new full...

    Help Deciphering Oil Sample Results

Thanks for the reply. It does seem that this test is more about trending... oil was changed in summer of 2023 and the boat gets used pretty often but it would be hard to confirm hours since the oil was changed. Oh, the type of oil was unknown to the tester, so apparently that's why they state...

Upgrading From 1994 200 Overnighter - Need Advice

Sea Trial and Survey went really well. Boat has been well maintained and everything was designated as “above average” condition. Surveyor even valued this a couple thousand higher than current asking price. My only thing now is wondering about this oil sample result. Does anyone know how to...

    Help Deciphering Oil Sample Results

Sea trial went well Survey came back really well on this 2001 Sea Ray 245 Weekender. The only thing is that the oil sample results came back and I don’t really know if they are satisfactory. I’ll try to post screenshots of the results.

Bought my first boat 245 Weekender

How have you liked the 245 weekender? I’m seriously considering one. I viewed it in person and loved the cockpit layout and the feel of it. It has an awesome new full enclosure with Makrolon front, rear, and side panels. It also has a 5.0 Mercruiser (305 EFI) but with a Bravo 2 I read on the...

The enclosure on the Sea Ray IS amazing. I’ll see if I can figure out how to post a pic. I’m just wondering if that boat might be a bit underpowered though? 5.0 mercruiser 305ci EFI w/bravo 2. 5100 pounds dry weigh. My 20’ Overnighter is a lot lighter and has a 5.0 mercruiser and it takes...

Agree. I just really feel that it’s a crap shoot on how long the engine would last (besides it does seem a bit underpowered for that Sea Ray) and an engine replacement on a 2001 boat isn’t going to be worth it. I just hired a Marine Surveyor and we are going to take the Crownline for a sea...

Upgrading From 1994 200 Overnighter - Need Advice

Update: just went to view the 245 Weekender. It is in a covered wet slip. The boat is super clean. This guy has WiFi enabled thermostats/humidity monitors in the cabin and engine compartment, and a dehumidifier in the cabin that is draining in the sink. I feel from our conversation and our...

Upgrading From 1994 200 Overnighter - Need Advice

I actually have a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 HD that is one of my work trucks. I could always use that for towing. Just would have to get my guys to throughly clean it first! If they needed they could use my RAM for work if I was towing the boat, but they would have to keep the RAM clean!

The dual axle trailer that comes with the boat has electric brakes on all tires (but that would really suck if the brakes failed!)

If specs on my RAM are true: When equipped with the available 5.7L HEMI V8 engine with Class-Exclusive eTorque Mild Hybrid Technology, the 2021 Ram 1500 gets a maximum gas towing capacity of up to 12,750 lbs, so you can tow what you need to with less hassle.

Good point on total weight. 6700 dry but add 80 gallons of fuel and various equipment etc and it would get up there. The 245 Weekender seems so much more manageable both in size and weight. Does 1295 hours seem really high though? That’s my only hesitation on that boat

Appreciate the feedback. The 245 Weekender seems a lot more manageable as far as trailering. The hours are actually about 1295 on that boat. Is that pretty high on a mercruiser?
