I thought that maybe your oil cooler was leaking, but it doesn’t sound like it if it is clear. The oil should be checked hot, engines off.
Mine are actually both a little over Full, but they are not leaking.
My port transmission shifts a bit harder than the starboard, and harder in reverse than...
I don't think it is the oil. Dextron 3 should be fine. I can't find any reason on-line to not use D3. I'm using D2E on my mechanics recommendation.
I removed the shift valve on dry land during winter storage, so the engines had not been run for several weeks.
I used a very strong magnet on the...
I bought a 2000 310 SDA with 350/300's and Velvet Drive model 20 v-drives last August. It has about 740 hours on it.
The engine oil and the v-drive oil all needed to be changed.
This is my first boat with twin v-drives, previously I had sterndrives.
I had a marine mechanic change the oils. I...
The control valve was removed and cleaned. Everything related cleaned and lubed. The shift feel is barely improved.
It seems to be inherent to the transmission.
There may be a possible improvement in repositioning the shift cable jacket to optimize the angle with the reverse position of the...
As previously stated, the shifters work fine when I disconnected the cable from the transmission.
The transmission oil was changed about 2 engine hours ago, and is full and crystal clear (Dextron III). I do not see an filter. Where is the filter?
The condition did not change when the oil was...
I have a 2000 310 Sundancer with 350/300 inboards (~650 hours) with Velvet Drive Model 20-02-003 V-drive transmissions.
The port transmission shifter feels gritty and requires mmore effort to shift, especially reverse. The starboard one is fine.
I checked and lubed the detent balls, and then...
They are a pair, semicircular, white, and have flaps to snap to the bottom of the cockpit table. Uses the short table leg to convert the cockpit table to a sunpad extension of the seat.
Same thickness as cockpit seat cushions.
My 1996 270 had wet carpet in front of the companion way step. The shower drain box was overflowing and the pump would not run. Removed and drained/cleaned everything, but there was no power to the float switch. The problem was a tripped breaker in the port side engine compartment forward of the...
