Thanks, but earlier today, I went to SALVO auto parts etc. and took the arm with me. SALVO not only had the rubber insert, made by TRICO, in Mexico, the VERY ACCOMODATING, parts sales person, took off the old rubber part and put on the new. And, he ABSOLUTELY refused a tip. TOTAL: $7.42. I...
The metal arm, which includes the rubber, is fine. The rubber needs replacing. Can just the rubber be replaced or is it all one unit? If so, how is it done? It doesn't look doable. Who has the rubber? The West Marine clerk says just replace the rubber but didn't know how. Advanced Auto Parts...
Texas Refinery Corp., makes, among other lubricants, "Pro Spec single vis." 30 weight oil. I think it complies with API CF 4 etc.
I have twin 3116 CATS, model year 2000.
Anyone ever try the above oil?
If so, your comments please.
Thanks

COURT SHIP: I thought some of you might be interested in the following reply to me from my fellow member of Dundalk Sail & Power Squadron (DSPS) located here in Baltimore, MD. I sent the general membership the CAT bulletin I posted here yesterday, and this is a reply by a DSPS member with the...
I have CAT 3116 TA engines, 30 weight only. So, in light of Shell's change from Rotella CF4 to CF2, what IS the recommended CF4, or better, oil, whether from Shell or others, and (which does not contain viscosity improvers?).
CAT publication SEBU 6251-12, January, 2009, pp 16,17, regarding...
Ours is a 2000, 410 Sun Dancer with CAT 3116s.
Of course the engines are noisy.
But, is there a more effective sound suppressor than the original insulation that is under the hatch, other than not turning the engines on?
Thanks

Re: Diesel oil from "Texas Refinery Corp". A friend says it IS, WITHOUT DOUBT, the best. Burns cleaner, stays cleaner much longer and much more cost effective than any other diesel oil. Any one use it? Comments please. I don't know the specific weight etc.
My engines are CAT 3116s, and I have...
Yearly because: If impellers are left place over the cold winter months, there is an increased risk that the vanes may lose their flexibility and remain in a permanently bent shape when warm temps arrive. I was taught in "engine maintenence" class that if left in one position for a lengthy time...
Is there an equivelent in qualifty to a CAT impeller with a significant $ difference? If so, brand please.
I have a 2000 SunDancer 410 with twin 3116TA engines. Been using CAT impellers with no problem. New impellers are put in at the starrt of every season and never a problem Just curious...
Mine are diesels (twin 3116)-not that it matters.
I think I'll NOT put an electric bulb or any other type heater in the bilge. The boat does not get used Dec. through mid April. Therefore, to me, it is not necessa.
Thanks

410 Dancer in water over Winter. Connected to shore power. Batteries left connected. Outside Temps usually in the 20-35 F range. Will a light bulb (turned on of course) in the bilge keep the air in the bilge dry/warm in any meaningful way? Certainly a 40 or 60 Watt bulb would not keep the engine...
