Thanks for the reply. The spot that I’m thinking about is the area to the left of the trailer bunk between the strakes. But, as you can see in the pics, the hull indents about 3 inches right were I’d like to put the transducer. They say to stay away from anything that may cause any turbulence...
Good morning, All.
Has anyone installed a transom mount transducer on a 2005 270 Sundeck (or, a 240 or other model/year that has the same transom). I'm trying to find the best location to mount the transducer, but there's a lot of varying contours back there on our boats. They say you should...
Out of curiosity, can those with a 2003 - 2007 270 SUNDECK with the 6.2L or a 383 Stroker post their WOT top speed?
I can only get to 41 - 42MPH max under ideal conditions @ just over 5000RPMs.
Sean, I have the same issue. My gauge that shows how much the drive is trimmed doesn't work. It always says the drive is trimmed all the way up. Also, the Smartcraft display, intermittently, goes back and forth between the trim reading and what ever I have it set to. Once in a while I get the...
Batman, did you end up buying that 240 Sundeck?
If it were me, I'd ask for some $$ off the asking price and have the repair done myself. There is a great chance that if the seller agreed to do the repair before the sale, he would find the cheapest mechanic who would do a sub par job. Have the...
Just something easy to check.... did you actually look at the fuel tank to make sure there really is gas in it? It should be translucent, allowing you to see the level of fuel in the tank. Sometimes the fuel gauge goes bad and it gives a wrong reading.
Damn...I knew I should have held out for a 496! Those numbers are much better than mine. You cruise at lower RPMs, at a faster speed, burning less fuel.
Thanks tdgard. I was guessing the top speed would be over 50 MPH.
Do you know what your most economical cruising speed is with the 8.1L? and what MPG and GPH you are getting at that RPM?
I don't have any of those engines you listed... but, I have a 270 SUNDECK with a 6.2 L 383 Stroker rated at 325 H.P. at the prop (the 6.2 is a replacement for the 7.4). So that you can make a comparision, my SD will do about 42 MPH at WOT. At it's most economical cruising speed (approx. 26 -27...
I believe that even though the 383cc engine is technically smaller than the 454cc engine, the Stroker has a little more H.P. and comparable torque. It is also less weight making it a suitable replacement.
