Odd charging problem. Alternator or something else?

Bump, no other thoughts from anyone with more experience?

Odd charging problem. Alternator or something else?

One other bit of information I forgot to mention. When running on either battery 1 isolated or battery 2 isolated, hitting the trim switch will dim the dash and mast lights. It doesn't nearly stall, like it did when running on combine, but it does noticeable dim. This used to not occur, again...

Odd charging problem. Alternator or something else?

Charges "OK" when isolated to battery 1 or battery 2. In fact, this is the first time I've ever turned it to combine. However, by "fine" I think it's less than it should be (which you sort of confirmed with the >13.8 v). With nothing running but the motor, the most it will put out is 12v when...

Odd charging problem. Alternator or something else?

I added a second battery to my 1993 200 BR a couple months back. I'm *assuming* the alternator is original, I'm the second owner, boat has around 450 hours (50 of which are mine). When running on first or second battery only, I'm charging around 11~11.5 volts (maybe a few less if the lights or...

Help with Corrugated Bilge Pump Hose

The fact that it already broke off would make me replace the entire hose. That stuff's cheap and brittle. I replaced the OEM with smooth wall bilge tubing, and used the same when I added a second pump for redundancy.

Replacing rear sun deck / engine cover / cushion thing on 98 180BR

I'd start with local upholstery shops. See if they can pattern something based off the pictures and measurements of your boat. It's really just wood, foam and vinyl.

    Remove oxidation on hull sides

You're going to have to wet sand that. I've been doing my 1993 200BR, same color. I go 1500 grit to 2000 grit to compound with a rotary buffer, then polish and wax. It's a long job that will make your arms ache, but it's worth it. Here's a couple before and after side by sides:

    Can't get on Plane

When my carb failed, I was getting no fuel to the starboard side cylinders. After changing out all the ignition components, checking compression, refreshing the fuel and changing the filter, it was still running like a dog. I only found the problem by pull off plug wires from the dist. cap and...

    Can't get on Plane

Sounds like the problem I had with my single 4.3. The carb needed cleaned/rebuilt. Is it the weber carb?

    1992 4.3 Inline Fuel Filter

Engine serial number is 0D843676. I don't have any pictures of this area of the engine, but it's got the inline automotive style fuel filter that apparently was only offered on 1992 engines (My 200BR is a 1993 built in July 1992, I believe). The setup looks similar to this: and that fuel...

    1992 4.3 Inline Fuel Filter

Bump for anyone who's changed over this inline style of fuel filter to the water separating filter. I've looked at the local dealer and online, and I can't find a kit with the required connectors to change over to this new style. Those of you with the standard filter (everyone except 1992/1993...

    1993 200BR water in bilge

That's what I was thinking. The night we went out and had no water, I don't think we used reverse except to pull away from the trailer. And the boat floated off the trailer because my wife backed in a little further than normal. The next night, I powered off, and we ended up with some water...

    1993 200BR water in bilge

I don't think throttling up in neutral would do it. I think it's the actual propulsion pulling the outdrive away due to either 1) the loosened mounting nuts or 2) transom rot allowing flex. I'll give it a shot, though.

    1993 200BR water in bilge

The plan so far is to pull the motor at the end of the season and see what I've got. Part of me wants to go ahead and do it now, so as to not let any problems get worse, the other part doesn't want to waste the last good month of summer (and I figure any rot, if it's there, isn't going to...

    1993 200BR Bimini top

Thanks all! I figured after looking online it was really that easy, but I haven't really known anyone with a boat since I was like 4. Sort of learning as I go. The fiberglass drilling I've got down, I've added thru-hulls for a new gas tank vent and a backup bilge pump already! One more quick...
