I went through the three options in the merc parts catalog looking at thermostat temps and found this info
7.4L Bravo '88-91 used a 140* in both new and old thermostat housings
7.4L Bravo Gen V '92-96 came in two options. 140* or 160* depending if there was a heat exchanger or not.
7.4L...
This is from an online parts catalog I found. For my serial number (which seems to only apply to one model year of engine 96-97) it shows the thermostat as 160*.
Maybe I should email Merc and see if they have an opinion.
Just recently replaced the thermostat in my 97 7.4L carbureted merc with standard cooling. According to my serial number and the online parts catalogs plus the boat repair shop I went to when I broke the plastic retaining spacer it takes a 160* thermostat. The one that came in the engine when I...
I have a 97 270. If your seat is like mine there are two pins that hold the back of the seat to the support rail underneath. You need to pull these pins and then the seat bottom lifts up and then pull forward to take out
Just following up on my post. Ended up being a fuse on that heavy duty relay in the engine bay that Hoplite mentioned. There are two 5 amp fuses mounted to it.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
Can someone give me some insight into switch functions. At my helm I have a double throw rocker labeled mains that returns to center, to the right of the rocker is a toggle switch used for raising and lowering with center position labeled "locked". The toggle is obvious and is what I used when...
Appreciate the info l. I'll be grabbing my meter and hopefully checking today or tomorrow.
I did have a hammer with me in my tool bag and tapped it but nothing happened.
97 sundancer 270. So out on the boat right now. Before we left this morning I tested the windlass quickly down then up. We got to where we wanted to anchor and it wouldn't lower. My wife said she heard clicking then now we hear nothing. I checked the windlass circuit breaker and as far as i...
So I have a 97 270. It is indeed a fiberglass frame with a pad that snaps to it and fold out stainless legs. The back edge of the frame rests in that piece of starboard you mentioned. I can get you whatever pictures and measurements you would like. The only issue is I'm out of town for work...
Not sure yet. I've only had her out 3 times since I bought it this past October( 2 times then, 3rd time was end of this April). So I haven't really been tracking that yet. I was thinking of installing the Garmin GFS 10 fuel flow sensor so I could easily track that info.
Has anyone done any work on their wet head drain? Specifically what is the best way to access it? While I was prepping the boat for the season I was checking the shower sump pump and noticed water dripping from the drain connection looking through the stair access. Is there a way to remove the...
Thanks everyone. Bought the boat in October and used it twice before putting it up for the winter. We had a week of freezing temps which is unusual for where I am and my mind just went to straight " im screwed" mode.
I don't recall water shooting out that much in the two times I used it but it...
